Dataset Information

The association between cognitive function trajectories and all-cause mortality in middle-aged and older Chinese adults with cardiovascular disease: A longitudinal study from CHARLS.

ABSTRACT:

Objective

To identify distinct multi-year cognitive function trajectories in middle-aged and older Chinese adults with established cardiovascular disease (CVD) and evaluate their independent associations with all-cause mortality.

Methods

This prospective study utilized data from five waves (2011-2020) of the China Health and Retirement Longitudinal Study (CHARLS). A total of 1464 participants aged ≥45 years with CVD were included. Global cognitive scores (range 0-21) were assessed at three time points (2011, 2013, and 2015). A Longitudinal K-means clustering algorithm with Dynamic Time Warping was employed to identify cognitive trajectories. Cox proportional hazards models were used to estimate hazard ratios (HRs) and 95 % confidence intervals (CIs) for all-cause mortality d
