BACKGROUND: Alpha2-adrenoceptor agonists such as medetomidine induce hyperglycemia, glucosuria, and polyuria. We evaluated the ability of vatinoxan, a peripherally acting alpha2-adrenoceptor antagonist, to mitigate these side effects in male Wistar rats (N = 31).
