A novel Streptococcus organism identified in a case of fulminant endocarditis using 16S rDNA sequencing.

ABSTRACT: We report the identification of a virulent Streptococcus organism associated with fulminant endocarditis, using 16S rRNA gene amplification, sequencing and assembly from formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded archival heart valve tissue, years after the autopsy of a patient.
