ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(18)H(11)N(2)O(+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, was prepared by the reaction of 1,8-naphthalic anhydride with o-phenyl-ene-diamine in DMF. The dihedral angle formed by the phenyl and naphthalic rings is 177.06°. The structure is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. There are N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl, C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds in the structure.
