ABSTRACT: The Schiff base ligand derived from the condensation of 3,5-dibromo-salicylaldehyde and 1,2-phenyl-enediamine, in the presence of dimethyl-formamide, forms the centrosymmetric title neutral binuclear distorted complex, [Cd(2)(C(20)H(10)Br(4)N(2)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)], with the two octa-hedral Cd atoms linked by two O atoms. All bond lengths and angles show normal values.

Project description:In the Schiff base mol-ecule of the title compound, C(36)H(48)N(2)O(2)·C(3)H(6)O, the central benzene ring makes dihedral angles of 46.64?(10) and 49.34?(10)° with the two outer benzene rings, and the two outer benzene rings form an angle of 39.13?(8)°. There are two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds involving the two hydr-oxy groups, which generate S(6) ring motifs. In the crystal structure, the Schiff base mol-ecules are linked into a chain along the a axis by C-H?? inter-actions. The acetone solvent mol-ecules are attached to the chain via C-H?O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title Schiff base, C(22)H(20)N(2)O(2), the benzene ring forms dihedral angles of 53.92 (1) and 3.62 (1)° with the two salicylaldimine groups. There are two strong O-H⋯N intra-molecular hydrogen bonds. The crystal packing is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions (average distance 3.39 Å).

The uncoordinated dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of positions with occupancies of 0.741 (4) and 0.259 (4). The crystal packing is stabilized by C-H⋯O inter-actions.

Project description:A new tetra-dentate unsymmetrical Schiff base, C(20)H(15)BrN(2)O(2), has been synthesized from 4-bromo-o-phenyl-enediamine and salicylaldehyde in refluxing ethanol. The dihedral angles between the two hydroxy-phenyl rings and the bromo-o-phenyl-enediiminatoin group are 68.6 (1) and 8.7 (1)°; the dihedral angle between the two hydroxy-phenyl rings is 70.3 (1)°. There are two relatively strong intra-molecular of O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(21)H(16)BrN(3)O(4))]·CH(3)OH, the Cu(II) ion is coordinated by two N [Cu-N = 1.814 (3) and 1.917 (3) Å] and two O [Cu-O = 1.805 (3) and 1.893 (3) Å] atoms from the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand in a distorted square-planar geometry. In the crystal structure, the approximately planar Cu complex mol-ecules are paired into centrosymmetric dimers with short inter-molecular Cu⋯N distances of 3.162 (3) Å. Weak O---H...O hydrogen bonds may help to stabilize the structure.

In the complex, the two Mn(III) ions are bridged by two O atoms from two symmetry-related N,N'-bis-(5-bromo-salicyl-idene)-1,2-diimino-benzene dianionic ligands with the longer Mn-O distance of 2.703 (3) Å, thus each Mn ion is six-coordinated by two N and three O atoms from the two dianionic ligands and one capping Cl atom in a distorted octa-hedral environment. The crystal structure displays inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between adjacent benzene rings, with a shortest centroid-centroid distance of 3.673 (2) Å, and inter-molecular C-H⋯O, C-H⋯ Cl and C-H⋯ Br hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(20)H(10)Br(2)Cl(2)N(2)O(2))], the Ni(II) ion is coordinated by two phen-oxy O atoms and two imino N atoms of the tetradentate ligand, forming a slightly distorted square-planar environment. The mol-ecule is essentially planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.088 Å for the mean plane defined by all non-H atoms in the mol-ecule.
