S-2-(Adamant-1-yl)-4-methyl-phenyl N,N-dimethyl-thio-carbamate.

ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(20)H(27)NOS, was obtained from the corresponding O-thio-carbamate. The structure features a C=O bond distance of 1.209 (2) Å and an sp(3)-hybridized S atom [C-S-C = 101.66 (1)°]. The steric bulk of the 1-adamantyl substituent on the 2-position of the aromatic ring is reflected in the S-C-C-C torsion angle [-7.5 (3)°].

Project description:Two independent mol-ecules comprise the asymmetric unit in the title thio-carbamide derivative, C(10)H(13)NOS. These differ in the relative orientations of terminal ethyl groups [C-C-C-O torsion angles = -66.95?(13) and 55.92?(13)°, respectively]. The phenyl ring is twisted out of the plane of the central residue [C(q)-N-C(ph)-C(ph) = -146.20?(12) and -144.15?(12)°, respectively; q = quaternary and ph = phen-yl]. The independent mol-ecules are linked into a dimeric aggregate by N-H?S hydrogen bonds and an eight-membered thio-amide {?H-N-C=S}(2) synthon.

Project description:The title mol-ecule, C20H20N2S2, is T-shaped and consists of a nearly flat 5,6-dimethyl-2-(5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole system approximately perpendicular to the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-ylmethyl substituent. The 5,6-dimethyl-2-(5-meth-yl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole system is rotationally disordered about the two imidazole N atoms as approximated by a twofold rotation axis with a refined major/minor occupancy ratio of 0.884 (2):0.116 (2). The benzimidazole ring system is essentially planar, the largest deviations being 0.026 (2) and 0.044 (18) Å in the major and minor components, respectively. The inter-planar angles between the benzimidazole unit and the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl substituent are 10.8 (3) and 8(3)° in the major and minor components, respectively, and the corresponding angles with the 5-methyl-thio-phen-2-ylmethyl substituent are 88.12 (8) and 89.5 (4)°. In the crystal, mol-ecules are oriented with their 2-(5-methyl-thio-phen-2-yl)benzimidazole mean planes approximately parallel to (11[Formula: see text]) and appear to be held together by π-π [2-thiophene⋯imidazole centroid-centroid distance = 4.1383 (7) Å] and C-H⋯π contacts. A weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bond generates infinite chains parallel to [100].

Project description:In the title carbamate compound, C(17)H(23)NO(2), one of the Csp(3) atoms of the cyclo-hexene ring is disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.55 (2) and 0.45 (2), both disorder components resulting in half-boat conformations. The mean plane through the carbamate unit is inclined at inter-planar angles of 14.80 (13), 18.30 (17) and 24.0 (2)°, respectively, with respect to the phenyl ring, and the major and minor disorder component cyclo-hexene rings. In one of the mol-ecules, a methyl group is disordered over two sets of sites with a site-occupation factor of 0.661 (16) for the major occupany component. In the crystal, mol-ecules are packed into chains running along [101] through N-H⋯O(S) hydrogen bonds.
