ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [ZnBr(2)(C(12)H(7)D(2)N(3)O)](n), the Zn atoms are coordinated by two Br atoms and by one N atom and one O atom of two symmetry-related 3-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)[2,6-(2)H(2)]pyridine N-oxide ligands in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The ZnBr(2) units are connected by the organic ligands into chains.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title coordination polymer/co-crystal, {[ZnCl(2)(C(18)H(18)N(4))]·C(18)H(18)N(4)}(n), the tetrahedrally coordinated Zn(II) ions are linked by the N-heterocycle into a linear chain. Another N-heterocycle present is not coordinated to the metal atom but inter-acts with the chain through N-H⋯N and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. The butyl chain of the uncoordinated ligand is disordered over three positions in a 0.511 (4):0.289 (5):0.200 (5) ratio.

Project description:In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, {[Ni(CHO(2))(2)(C(20)H(14)N(4))(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O}(n), the Ni(II) atom lies on a crystallographic inversion centre. It is coordinated by two formate O atoms, two water O atoms and two N atoms from two 1,4-bis-(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)benzene (bzb) ligands, resulting in a distorted trans-NiN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination geometry. The bzb mol-ecule acts as a bridging ligand to connect the metal atoms into a chain propagating in [1[Formula: see text][Formula: see text]]. The dihedral angle between the benzimidazole ring and the central benzene ring in the ligand is 38.16 (9)°. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds crosslink the chains into (010) sheets.

Project description:In the title compound, C(19)H(13)N(5)·3CH(4)O, the 2,6-bis-(2-benzimidazol-yl)pyridine mol-ecule is essentially planar with an r.m.s. deviation for all non-H atoms of 0.185 Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak π⋯π stacking inter-actions with centroid-centroid distances of 3.6675 (16) and 3.6891 (15) Å. The atoms of one of the methanol solvent molecules are disordered over two sites with refined occupancies of 0.606(8) and 0.394(8).

Project description:In the title one-dimensional coordination polymer, [Cu(NO(3))(2)(C(32)H(22)N(4))](n), the Cu(2+) ion (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by two nitrate O atoms and two N atoms from two 4,4'-bis-(benzoimidazol-1-yl)terphenyl (L) ligands in a distorted cis-CuN(2)O(2) square-planar coordination geometry. An alternative description of the metal coordination geometry, if long Cu-O contacts to the bonded nitrate anions are considered, is an extremely distorted cis-CuN(2)O(4) octa-hedron. The complete L ligand is generated by crystallographic twofold symmetry and connects the metal ions into infinite chains propagating in [10[Formula: see text]]. The dihedral angle between the benzimidazole ring system and the adjacent benzene (B) ring is 51.12 (11)° and the dihedral angle between the B ring and the central ring is 19.45 (13)°.

Project description:The title complex, [ZnBr(2)(C(7)H(6)N(4))](n), was formed under hydro-thermal conditions using the ligand 4-(3-pyrid-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole (L). The unique Zn(II) ion is coordinated by one triazole N atom, one pyridine N atom and two Br atoms in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment. Symmetry-related Zn(II) ions are connected by bridging L ligands into chains parallel to [001] in which the Zn⋯Zn separation is 8.643 (7) Å. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds link the chains into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:There are two monomeric units in the asymmetric unit of the polymeric title compound, [Na(C(5)H(4)NOS)(C(10)H(8)N(2)O(2)S(2))(H(2)O)](n). The Na(I) ions are six coordinated by four O atoms, one S atom and one water mol-ecule, forming a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. An intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond stabilizes the conformation of the mol-ecule. The crystal packing is consolidated by inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, π-π inter-actions [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.587 (2) Å] together with weak C-H⋯π inter-actions. The mol-ecules are linked into polymeric chains along the b-axis direction.

Project description:In the title complex, {[CdI(2)(C(11)H(10)N(4))]·C(3)H(7)NO}(n), the Cd(II) ion is four-coordinated by two N atoms from two 1-[(1H-benzimidazol-1-yl)meth-yl]-1H-imidazole (bmi) ligands and by two terminal I(-) anions in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. One of the two I(-) anions is disordered over two sets of sites, with refined occupancies of 0.66 (5) and 0.34 (5). The Cd(II) ions are bridged by bmi ligands, leading to the formation of a chain along [001]. Dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules are located between these chains. Classical N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding between the bmi ligands and the solvent mol-ecules leads to a consolidation of the structure.

An extensive three-dimensional network of inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds consolidates the crystal packing, which also exhibits π-π inter-actions between the five- and six-membered rings from neighbouring bbip mol-ecules.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Cu(2)I(2)(C(8)H(7)N(3))(2)](n) [C(8)H(7)N(3) = 3-(1H-imidazol-2-yl)pyridine (HIPy), where HIPy comes from the in situ deca-rboxylation of 2-(pyridin-3-yl)-1H-imidazole-4,5-dicarb-oxy-lic acid (H(3)PyIDC)], was obtained under solvo-thermal conditions. Each Cu(I) cation is in a distorted tetra-hedral coordination environment defined by two iodide anions and two nitro-gen atoms from two individual HIPy ligands. Two Cu(I) atoms are connected by two HIPy ligands to form a dimer and these dimers are further bridged through the iodide atoms, leading to a chain structure extending parallel to [100]. Moreover, inter-molecular N-H⋯I hydrogen bonds and weak π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid⋯centroid distances of 3.809 (4) Å, an inter-planar separation of 3.345 (3) Å and a ring slippage of 1.822 Å] between pyridyl rings link the chains into a two-dimensional supra-molecular network in the ac plane.
