In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into a two-dimensional network parallel to the bc plane by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Redetermination of bis-(2-formyl-phenolato-κO,O')nickel(II) as bis-[2-(imino-meth-yl)phenolato-κN,O']nickel(II).

Project description:The crystal structure of bis-(2-formyl-phenolato-κ(2)O,O')nickel(II), [Ni(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)], a square-planar centrosymmetric complex, has been reported previously [Li & Chen (2006). Acta Cryst. E62, m1038-m1039]. However, a number of warning signs allows the assumption that the carbonyl group in the salicylaldehydate ligand of the claimed complex is incorrect. The crystal structure was therefore redetermined on basis of the originally deposited structure factors. After substituting the carbonyl O atom by an N atom, the model can be completed with an imine H atom, which was clearly discernible in a difference map. The resulting model, corresponding to bis-[2-(imino-meth-yl)phenolato-κ(2)N,O']nickel(II), [Ni(C(7)H(6)NO)(2)], converges well and none of the previous structural alerts remains. This reinter-pretation is also consistent with the published synthesis, which was carried out using salicylaldehyde in the presence of aqueous NH(3). The reinter-preted structure is virtually identical to earlier reports dealing with this bis-iminato Ni(II) complex.

Project description:The title compound, [Ni(C(9)H(9)O(3))(2)], was synthesized by the reaction of 3-ethoxy-salicylaldehyde with nickel(II) nitrate in methanol solution. The asymmetric unit onsists of two half-molecules; each Ni atom lies on a centre of symmetry. The Ni(II) ions are coordinated by four O atoms from two deprotonated 3-ethoxy-salicylaldehyde ligands in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination environment.

Project description:In the title complex, [Ni(C(7)H(5)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)], the Ni(II) atom lies on a center of inversion and is coordinated in an octa-hedral geometry by two 2-(benzyl-amino)-pyridine (2-BAP) and two 2-formyl-phenolate ligands with the O-atom donors in the equatorial plane and the pyridine N atoms in axial positions. There are hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the secondary amine H atom and the phenolate O atom, as well as C-H⋯O inter-actions, which result in the dihedral angle between the aromatic phenyl ring of the 2-formyl-phenolate moiety and the pyridine ring being 80.23 (4)°. In the packing, there are both C-H⋯π inter-actions, which link the mol-ecules into chains along the b axis, and offset π-π inter-actions involving both the pyridine and phenyl rings of the 2-BAP ligands [centroid-centroid distances = 4.0100 (8) Å for the pyridine rings and 3.6601 (8) and 4.8561 (8) Å for the phenyl rings].

Both complexes afford a six-coordinated coordination environment about the Zn atoms with cis-configuration ligands. The deprotonated hydr-oxy groups of the 3,5-dichloro-salicylaldehyde ligands bridge two metal cations, forming a centrosymmetric dimeric complex. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding occurs between the coordinated water mol-ecules and deprotonated hydr-oxy groups in the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(7)O(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))]ClO(4), the Ni(II) atom is in a slightly distorted square-planar coordination by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) ligand and two O atoms from the deprotonated 2-formyl-6-methoxy-phenolate (mbd) ligand. The bipy ligand is nearly coplanar with the Ni(II) square plane, the Ni atom being only 0.042 (2) Å from the mean plane, whereas the benzaldehyde plane is folded with respect to the square plane, making a dihedral angle of 19.17 (8)°. One of the O atoms of the perchlorate anion is involved in a weak inter-action with the Ni atom, with an Ni-O distance of 2.5732 (18) Å. The packing is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O inter-actions.

In the crystal structure, centrosymmetric dimers are formed though O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds; π-π stacking inter-actions, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.796 (2) Å, are also found.
