Tetrakis(μ-2-chloro-benzoato-κO:O')bis-[(4-vinyl-pyridine-κN)copper(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title compound, [Cu(2)(C(7)H(4)ClO(2))(4)(C(7)H(7)N)(2)], consists of centrosymmetric dinuclear mol-ecules with a Cu⋯Cu separation of 2.6676 (12) Å. In the mol-ecule, four 2-chloro-benzoate anions bridge two Cu(II) ions, while two neutral 4-vinyl-pyridine ligands coordinate them in axial positions. The Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-planar pyramidal coordination, with four O atoms from the chlorobenzoate anions at the base. The N pyridine atom completes the coordination environment in the apical position.
