1-{2-[(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-amino]-ethyl}-3-methyl-3H-imidazolium hexafluorophosphate.

ABSTRACT: The title Schiff base compound, C(13)H(16)N(3)O(+)·PF(6) (-), was derived from the condensation of 2-hydroxy-benaldehyde with the ionic liquid 1-(2-amino-ethyl)-3-methyl-imidazolium hexa-fluoro-phosphate in an ethanol solution. The asymmetric unit comprises one cation and two PF(6) (-) anions. The dihedral angle between the aromatic and imidazole rings is 15.2 (2)°. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond is found which generates an S(6) ring motif.

The [EuBr(6)](3-) anions are located at the corners and face-centres of the monoclinic unit cell. Characteristic hydrogen-bonding inter-actions can be observed between the bromide anions and the acidic H atoms of the imidazolium cations.

The asymmetric unit contains two [emim](+) cations and one-half of the [?-Mo(8)O(26)](4-) tetra-anion, which occupies a special position on an inversion centre. The ?-[Mo(8)O(26)](4-) tetra-anion features eight distorted MoO(6) coordination octa-hedra linked together through bridging O atoms.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(6)H(11)N(2))[CrCl(3)]}(n), was generated via mixing of the ionic liquid 1-ethyl-3-methyl-imidazolium chloride with CrCl(2) in ethanol. Crystals were obtained by a diffusion method. In the crystal structure, the anion forms one-dimensional chains of chloride-bridged Jahn-Teller distorted chromium(II) centers extending along the [100] direction. The imidazolium cations are positioned between these chains.

In the crystal, inversion-related mol-ecules are stacked along the a axis. Mol-ecules are oriented head-to-tail and display π-π inter-actions with a centroid-to-centroid distance of 3.6664 (8) Å.
