ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(16)H(21)INO(4)P, the mol-ecular structure is stabilized by a weak intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bond inter-action. The crystal packing is stabilized by strong inter-molecular O-H ⋯ O hydogen-bonding inter-actions to form a zigzag packing arrangement.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(21)N(2)O(5)PS, the indole ring is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of -0.0083 (18) Å. The methyl C atom of the methyl-phospho-nate group and the S atom lie 0.104 (2) and -0.2158 (6) Å, respectively, from the indole mean plane. The sulfonyl-bound phenyl ring is almost perpendicular to the indole ring system, with a dihedral angle of 82.30 (8)°. The ethyl side chains are disordered over two sets of sites, with occupancy factors of 0.737 (5)/0.263 (5) and 0.529 (11)/0.471 (11). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked into centrosymmetric dimers via C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, resulting in an R(2) (2)(18) graph-set motif. The crystal structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.

The crystal packing leads to a sequence of hydro-phobic and hydro-philic layers. While the hydro-phobic layer comprises the aliphatic substituent groups, the hydro-philic one is held together by a series of strong and rather directional N(+)-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, C(24)H(24)NO(3)P, crystallizes as a racemate with two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The structural features (bond lengths and angles) of the two mol-ecules are almost identical. The dihedral angle between the anthracene and toluidine rings is similar in the two mol-ecules, with values of 48.36 (9) and 51.15 (9)°. The methyl groups of one of the meth-oxy groups in one mol-ecule is disordered over two sets of sites, the major component having a site occupancy of 0.636 (3). In the crystal, both molecules are linked into inversion dimers by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The dimers are linked by C-H⋯O and C-H⋯N inter-actions into sheets lying parallel to the ac plane.
