Tetra-aqua-bis(2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-quinoline-4-carboxyl-ato-κO)nickel(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Ni(C(10)H(6)NO(3))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], the central Ni(II) atom is located on an inversion center and coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by two O atoms from two 2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-quinoline-4-carboxyl-ate ligands and four water mol-ecules, all of which act as monodentate ligands. The crystal structure features an extensive network of inter-molecular hydrogen-bonding inter-actions (O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O) and offset face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.525 (3) and 3.281 (5) Å].

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(6)H(3)ClNO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)]·4H(2)O, the Ni(II) ion is located on an inversion centre and is octa-hedrally coordinated by four O atoms from four water mol-ecules in the equatorial plane and two O atoms of two 6-chloro-3-carboxyl-ate ligands in axial positions. There are also four lattice water molecules present. The organic ligands are bound to the Ni(II) ion in a monodentate manner through a carboxyl-ate O atom. The Gd(III) ion is located on a twofold rotation axis and is coordinated by four N atoms from two chelating phen ligands and four O atoms (5-carboxyl-ate and 4-oxido O atoms) from H(2)iso(-) and Hiso(2-) ligands. The mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network by N-H⋯O, N-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The H atom involved in an N-H⋯N hydrogen bond is disordered around a twofold rotation axis with half occupancy.

The 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion is centrosymmetric with the centroid of the quinone ring located about an inversion center; the 4,4'-bipyridine ligand is also centrosymmetric with the mid-point of the C-C bond linking two pyridine rings located about another invertion center. The 9,10-dioxo-9,10-dihydro-anthracene-1,4,5,8-tetra-carboxyl-ate anion and bypiridine ligand bridge the Ni(II) cations, forming a polymeric chain along the b axis. ?-? stacking is observed between pyridine and benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.705?(2)?Å]. All of the coordinating water mol-ecules are involved in O-H?O hydrogen bonding.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title complex, [Zn(C(10)H(6)NO(2))(2)(H(2)O)](n), consists of one quinoline-4-carboxyl-ate anion, half of a Zn(2+) cation and half of a coordinated water mol-ecule. The cation and the water O atom have crystallographically imposed inversion and twofold rotation symmetry, respectively. The metal centre displays an elongated ZnO(6) octa-hedral coordination geometry provided by the O atoms of four anions at the equatorial plane and two axial water mol-ecules. Each anion and water mol-ecule act as bridges between Zn(II) cations, forming a polymeric chain parallel to [001]. The chains are further linked into a three-dimensional framework through O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.
