{μ-N,N'-Bis[(E)-4-pyridylmethyl-idene]naphthalene-1,5-diamine}bis-[dichlorido(dimethyl sulfide)platinum(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title dinuclear platinum compound, [Pt(2)Cl(4)(C(22)H(16)N(4))(C(2)H(6)S)(2)], with a long bridging bipyridyl-type ligand, is centrosymmetric and the Pt(II) cation shows a slightly distorted square-planar coordination geometry. The Cl ligands are trans to each other, with a Cl-Pt-Cl angle of 178.83 (8)°. The pyridine ring forms a dihedral angle of 48.8 (2)° with the planar PtCl(2)SN unit. Within the mol-ecule, the distance between Pt atoms is 20.262 (5) Å and the N⋯N separation between the terminal pyridyl rings is 16.23 (1)Å.

Project description:In the title compound, trans-[PtCl(2)(C(7)H(9)N)(2)], the Pt(II) atom is located on an inversion center and is coordinated by two 3,4-dimethyl-pyridine ligands and two chloride ligands, resulting in a typical slightly distorted square-planar geometry. The crystallographic inversion centre forces the value of the C-N-N-C torsion angle to be linear and the 3,4-dimethyl-pyridine ligands to be coplanar.

Project description:In the title compound, C(22)H(22)N(2), the asymmetric unit contains one half-mol-ecule. A crystallographic inversion centre is located at the mid-point of the bond common to both rings, in the central naphthalene unit. Quantum-mechanical ab initio calculations on the isolated mol-ecule showed that the minimum energy configuration occurs when the naphthalene ring system and the pyrrolyl groups deviate only slightly from perpendicularity. In the crystal, due to the effects of crystal packing, the mol-ecule deviates by approximately 4° from the a priori expected ideal value of 90° [C-C-N-C torsion angle = 86.11 (15)°].

Project description:The dinuclear compound, [Nb(2)Cl(6)(C(2)H(6)S)(1.7)(C(2)H(6)Se)(1.3)], features an Nb(III)=Nb(III) double bond [2.6878?(5)?Å]. The mol-ecule lies on a twofold rotation axis that passes through the middle of this bond as well as through the bridging dimethyl sulfide ligand. The Nb(III) ion exists in an octa-hedral coordination environment defined by two terminal and two bridging Cl atoms, and (CH(3))(2)Se/(CH(3))(2)S ligands. The (bridging) ligand lying on the twofold rotation axis is an ordered (CH(3))(2)S ligand, whereas the terminal ones on a general position are a mixture of (CH(3))(2)Se and (CH(3))(2)S ligands in a 0.647?(2):0.353?(2) ratio (the methyl C atoms are also disordered).

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)(C(18)H(20)N(4))]·6H(2)O, consists of a neutral Mn(II) complex with six solvent water mol-ecules. In the complex, the Mn(2+) ion is eight-coordinated in a distorted square-anti-prismatic environment by four N atoms from the tetra-dentate ligand N,N'-bis-(2-pyridylmethyl-idene)cyclo-hexane-1,2-diamine (bpic) and four O atoms from two acetate ligands. The compound displays inter-molecular O-H?O hydrogen-bond inter-actions to form various kinds of ring structures and cyclic water clusters.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(8)N(2)·C(10)H(10)N(2)·2H(2)O, contains one half-mol-ecule of phenazine, one half-mol-ecule of naphthalene-1,5-diamine and one water mol-ecule. The phenazine and naphthalene-1,5-diamine mol-ecules are located on inversion centers. The water mol-ecules serve as bridges between the naphthalene-1,5-diamine mol-ecules and also between the naphthalene-1,5-diamine and phenazine mol-ecules. The naphthalene-1,5-diamine and water mol-ecules are connected via N-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a T4(2) motif. They are arranged into a two-dimensional polymeric structure parallel to (10) in which the water mol-ecule is a single donor and a double acceptor, whereas the amino group is a double donor and a single acceptor in the hydrogen bonding. These two-dimensional assemblies alternate with the layers of phenazine mol-ecules arranged into a herringbone motif. Each phenazine mol-ecule is hydrogen bonded to two water mol-ecules and thus a three-dimensional framework of hydrogen-bonded mol-ecules is generated.

Project description:The mol-ecule of the title compound, C(19)H(20)Br(2)N(2), is a potential bidentate Schiff base ligand. The two benzene rings are inclined at a dihedral angle of 30.85 (8)°. An inter-esting feature of the crystal structure is a weak inter-molecular Br⋯Br [3.4752 (4) Å] inter-action which is shorter than the sum of the van der Waals radii of the Br atoms and links neighbouring mol-ecules into chains along the c axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions.
