ABSTRACT: The racemic title compound, C(14)H(12)ClNO, contains two mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the phenyl and benzene rings are 84.03 (15) and 83.92 (13)°. The crystal structure involves inter-molecular N-H⋯O, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, linking mol-ecules into layers parallel to the (100) plane.

Project description:The title compound, C(16)H(14)Cl(2)O(2), is a chiral mitotane derivative that contains a dioxolane ring and crystallizes from methanol as a racemic mixture. It was obtained in high yield from mitotane and ethyl-eneglycol in alkaline medium, followed by neutralization with sulfuric acid and extraction with ethyl acetate. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular C- H⋯ O hydrogen bond. The dihedral angle between the aromatic rings is 80.1 (2)°. The dioxolane ring adopts a puckered envelope conformation with an O atom as the flap.

Project description:In the title racemic compound, C12H10ClNO, the dihedral angle between the benzene and pyridine rings is 74.34 (6)°. In the crystal, the mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming zigzag C(5) [001] chains in which alternating R- and S-configuration mol-ecules are related by c-glide symmetry. In addition, inversion-related pairs of mol-ecules are linked into dimers by pairs of weak C-Cl⋯π(pyrid-yl) inter-actions, which link the hydrogen-bonded chains into (100) sheets. Structural comparisons are drawn with a number of related compounds.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(9)Cl(2)NO, was crystallized from a methanol solution of 5-chloro-salicylaldehyde and o-chloro-aniline. The mol-ecule displays a trans configuration with respect to the imine C=N double bond. The N atom is involved in an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. The two aromatic rings are essentially coplanar, the dihedral angle between them being 7.1 (1)°. A C-H⋯π inter-action is present in the crystal.

An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. The methyl hy-droxy group lies nearly perpendicular to the plane of its attached benzene ring [O-C-C-C torsion angle = 84.3 (3)°].
