ABSTRACT: In the title compound, [Gd(2)(C(7)H(3)F(2)O(2))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], the asymmetric unit comprises one Gd(3+) cation chelated by two 2,4-difluoro-benzoate and one 1,10-phenanthroline ligands. Two cations are linked into a centrosymmetric dimer via three bridging carboxyl-ate groups of 2,4-difluoro-benzoate ligands. Each Gd(3+) ion is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms and two N atoms.

Project description:In the centrosymmetric dinuclear title compound, [Tb(2)(C(7)H(3)F(2)O(2))(6)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Tb(III) ion is coordinated by an N,N'-bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecule, and two O,O'-bidentate 2,4-difluoro-benzoate (dfb) anions. One of the latter also bonds to the second Tb(III) centre through one of its O atoms. The third dfb anion bonds to one Tb atom from each of its O atoms. Thus, the three dfb species have three different coordination modes. This results in an irregular TbN(2)O(7) coordination sphere for the metal ion. The F atoms and their associated H atoms in the simple bidentate dfb anion are disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.672 (10):0.328 (10) ratio.

Project description:In the title centrosymmetric dimeric Cd(II) complex, [Cd(2)(C(7)H(5)O(4))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], the Cd(II) cation is coord-inated by a bidentate phenanthroline (phen) ligand, three dihy-droxy-benzoate (dhba) anions and one water mol-ecule in a distorted CdN(2)O(4) octa-hedral geometry. Among the dhba anions, two anions bridge two Cd(II) cations to form the dimeric complex with significant different Cd-O bond distances of 2.2215 (19) and 2.406 (2) Å. The centroid-centroid distance of 3.4615 (19) Å between two nearly parallel benzene rings of the dhba and phen ligands coordinating to the same Cd(II) cation indicates the existence of intra-molecular π-π stacking in the complex. Extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and inter-molecular weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding help to stabilize the crystal structure. One hy-droxy group of the monodentate dhba ligand is disordered over two sites with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.9:0.1.

The Dy(III) atom is nine-coordinated by seven O atoms from five L ligands and two N atoms from the phen mol-ecules. The L ligands are coordinated to the Dy(III) ion in three coordination modes: chelating, bridging and bridging-tridentate. C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding interactions consolidate the crystal packing.

Each of the four phenoxy-acetate anions bridges the pair of Mn atoms. The asymmetric unit is completed by a half-occupancy methanol solvent mol-ecule. Face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions between the aromatic rings of 1,10-phenanthroline molecules belonging to adjacent Mn(2) complexes, with an inter-planar separation of circa 3.4 Å, and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the dinuclear units into a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:In the title dinuclear complex, [Tb(2)(C(8)H(7)O(3))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], each Tb(III) ion is eight-coordinated by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and six O atoms from the carboxyl-ate groups of five 4-methoxy-benzoate ligands in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. All six 4-methoxy-benzoate ligands act in a bidentate mode, two coordinating to one Tb center each and the other four bridging two Tb centers [Tb?Tb separation = 4.3144?(6)?Å]. In the crystal, inter-molecular ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic rings of 1,10-phenanthroline and 4-methoxy-benzoate ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.742?(9)?Å] link two mol-ecules into a centrosymmetric dimer. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds help to consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The complete mol-ecule of the title compound, [Nd(2)(C(7)H(5)O(2))(6)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], is generated by a crystallographic inversion center. The two Nd(III) ions are linked by four bridging benzoate ions, with an Nd⋯Nd separation of 4.0360 (2) Å. As well as the bridging ligands, each Nd(III) ion is coordinated by one N,N'-bidentate phenanthroline ligand and an O,O'-bidentate benzoate ion. The resulting irregular nine-coordinated geometry of the Nd(III) ion is completed by seven O and two N atoms. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by intra-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into infinite chains along the c axis by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is consolidated by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title binuclear complex, [Fe(2)(C(8)H(7)O(2))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)], the Fe(II) ion is six-coordinated by three carboxylate O atoms from three 4-methyl-benzoate ligands, two N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands and one bridging aqua ligand in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The coordinated water mol-ecule acting as the bridging ligand is located on a twofold axes and the complex mol-ecule displays C(2) mol-ecular symmetry. The Fe⋯Fe separation in the binuclear complex is 3.490 (3) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by hydrogen bonding and π-π stacking inter-actions [the centroid-centroid distance between adjacent 1,10-phenanthroline ring systems is 3.653 (2) Å, and that between the 1,10-phenanthroline ring system and the phenyl ring of the 4-methyl-benzoate unit of a neighbouring complex is 3.622 (3) Å].
