Poly[(μ(3)-nicotinato-κO:O':N)(μ(2)-nicotinato-κO,O':N)iron(II)].

ABSTRACT: In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Fe(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(2)](n), one nicotinate group O,O'-chelates one Fe atom and binds through the N atom to the other Fe atom; the second nicotinate group bridges three Fe atoms through the N and two O atoms. The μ(2)- and μ(3)-bridging modes of the two nicotinate groups result in a polymeric three-dimensional network structure. The Fe atom shows octa-hedral coordination geometry but one of the Fe-O bonds is somewhat long [2.522 (2) Å].

Project description:The title coordination polymer, [Cu(C(6)H(3)BrNO(2))(2)](n), is composed of two structurally similar two-dimensional coordination polymers (twin layers). Both of them have the same chemical composition but they display different bond lengths and angles. In each layer, two N atoms and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands and four carboxyl-ate O atoms from the terminal 5-bromo-nicotinate ligands bind to two Cu(II) atoms to form a dinuclear paddle-wheel-like pattern. Adjacent paddle wheels are further linked by bridging 5-bromo-nicotinate groups to generate a two-dimensional coordination polymer; neighboring twin-like layers are finally stacked through π-π stacking interactions between adjacent pyridine rings [perpendicular distance of 3.626 (2) Å] in a 'sandwich' manner, thus generating a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The title compound, [Zn(C(6)H(4)NO(3))(N(3))], has been prepared by the reaction of nicotinate N-oxide acid, zinc(II) nitrate and sodium azide. The Zn atom is five coordinated by two azide anions and three nicotinate N-oxide ligands. Each nicotinate N-oxide bridges three Zn atoms, whereas the azide bridges two Zn atoms, resulting in the formation of a two-dimensional metal-organic polymer developing parallel to (100).

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ag(2)Pr(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(4)]ClO(4)·H(2)O}(n), the Pr(III) atom, lying on a twofold rotation axis, has a distorted square-anti-prismatic coordination geometry, defined by four O atoms from four nicotinate (nic) ligands and four water mol-ecules. The Ag(I) atom is coordinated in an almost linear fashion by two pyridyl N atoms from two nicotinate ligands. The linear coordination is augmented by weak inter-actions with three O atoms from one perchlorate anion, one uncoordinated water mol-ecule and one carboxyl-ate group. Two Pr atoms link two {Ag(nic)(2)}(+) units into a ring, which is further extended into an infinite zigzag chain by sharing the Pr atoms. These chains are further connected into a three-dimensional network via weak Ag⋯O inter-actions, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, Ag⋯Ag inter-actions [3.357 (2) Å] and π-π inter-actions between the pyridyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.685 (4) Å].

Project description:The itle compound, [Ca(C(6)H(3)ClNO(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), contains polymeric chains extending along [100] that are generated by inversion centres. The Ca(2+) ions are bridged by 2-chloronicotinate groups and exhibit an eight-coordination by six carboxylate O atoms of four different 2-chloronicotinate ligands and two O atoms of water molecules. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a supra-molecular network structure. The π-π contacts between the 2-chloro-nicotinate rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.875 (3) and 3.701 (3) Å] may further stabilize the structure.

Project description:The dinuclear mol-ecule of the title compound, [Cd(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(C(2)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(2)]·2H(2)O, lies on an inversion centre and forms 12-membered (CdNC(3)O)(2) metallacycles with the two Cd(2+) ions bridged by two nicotinate ligands. Both Cd(2+) ions display coordination polyhedra with a distorted octa-hedral geometry that includes two pyridine N atoms from bridging and terminal nicotinate anions, two amine N atoms from chelating ethylene-diamine ligands, carboxylate O atoms from bridging nicotinate anions and water O atoms. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds result in the formation of a three-dimensional network, and π-π stacking inter-actions are observed between symmetry-related pyridine rings of bridging as well as terminal nicotinate anions (the centroid-centroid distances are 3.59 and 3.69 Å, respectively, and the distances between parallel planes of the stacked pyridine rings are 3.53 and 3.43 Å, respectively). The two methylene groups of the ethylene-diamine ligand are disordered over two positions; the site occupancy factors are ca 0.8 and 0.2.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Fe(CHO(2))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)]·4H(2)O}(n), the Fe(II) ion is coordinated by two 4,4'-bipyridyl (4,4'-bpy) ligands, three formate ligands and one water molecule. The slightly distorted octahedral FeN(2)O(4) coordination results from the N atoms of two bridging 4,4'-bpy ligands, the O atoms of two bridging HCOO(-) anions of anti-anti mode, all in trans positions around the metal centre, and the O atoms of one terminal HCOO(-) anion and of one water molecule. The bridging formate ligands link the metal ions into chains that are further connected via 4,4'-bpy ligands into a framework structure. The three-dimensional structure is stabilized by extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding. The crystals were twinned containing a 0.84:0.16 racemate.

Project description:Two nicotinate binding modes are observed in the dinuclear title compound, [Sn(2)(C(7)H(6)Br)(4)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(2)]: in the first, a terminal O,O'-chelating molecule binds to a water-coordinated diorganotin cation, while the second mode corresponds to an O:N-bridging molecule which binds to two cations. The two Sn atoms exist in trans-C(2)SnNO(4) penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometries. Adjacent dinuclear units are linked by O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, generating a linear chain, which propagates in the b-axis direction. O-H⋯O inter-actions are also observed.

These octa-hedra are connected via common edges into chains that elongate along the a axis, with Fe⋯Fe distances of 2.9712 (4) and 2.9724 (4) Å. The chains are linked via the naphthalene-1,4-dicarboxyl-ate ligands into a three-dimensional coordination network.
