This hydrogen bonding appears to complement π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances 3.768 (2) and 3.551 (2) Å] and helps to stabilize the structure further.

Project description:The organic cation in the title molecular salt is found with a gauche arrangement for the terminal C—C—C—Cl grouping, which DFT calculations show is the stable conformation relative to anti. The organic cation in the title molecular salt, C5H13NCl+·Cl−, exhibits the gauche effect with a C—H bond of the C atom β to the chloro group donating electrons to the antibonding orbital of the C—Cl bond to stabilize the gauche conformation [Cl—C—C—C = −68.6 (6)°], as confirmed by DFT geometry optimizations that show a lengthening of the C—Cl bond relative to that of the anti conformation. 4-[(2-Chloro-ethyl)amino]quinolinium chloride monohydrate.

Project description:In the title salt hydrate, C(11)H(12)ClN(2) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the quinolin-ium core is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.027 Å) with the chloro-ethyl side chain being almost orthogonal to the core [C-N-C-C torsion angle = -80.0 (3)°]. In the crystal packing, the water mol-ecule bridges three species, forming donor inter-actions to two chloride anions and accepting a hydrogen bond from the quinolinium H atom. The chloride anion accepts a hydrogen bond from the amine N atom with the result that a two-dimensional supra-molecular array is formed in the ac plane. A C-H⋯Cl interaction also occurs.

Project description:The molecule of the title compound, C(14)H(7)Cl(2)NO(2), is not planar; the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the chloro-phenyl and benzisoxazole rings is 20.32 (7)°. The carbonyl chloride group is twisted with respect to the benzisoxazole ring by 2.5 (1)°. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by an intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bond. In the crystal packing, adjacent mol-ecules are linked into dimers by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The dimers are further stacked into columns along the unique axis direction by π-π stacking inter-actions, with a centroid⋯centroid distance of 3.828 (5) Å. Other weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl inter-actions are also present.
