Methyl eucomate.

ABSTRACT: THE CRYSTAL STRUCTURE OF THE TITLE COMPOUND [SYSTEMATIC NAME: methyl 3-carboxy-3-hydr-oxy-3-(4-hydroxy-benz-yl)propanoate], C(12)H(14)O(6), is stabilized by inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The mol-ecules are arranged in layers, parallel to (001), which are inter-connected by the O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.
