Redetermination of poly[μ-chlorido-hepta-chlorido-μ(3)-l-proline-μ(2)-l-proline-tetra-mercury(II)].

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Hg(4)Cl(8)(C(5)H(9)NO(2))(2)](n), consists of four HgCl(2) units and two L-proline ligands in the zwitterionic form. In each HgCl(2) unit, the Hg(II) ion is strongly bonded to two Cl atoms, and the Hg(II) ions in two of the HgCl(2) units are chelated by O atoms of two l-proline ligands, with one strong and one weak Hg-O bond. In the crystal structure, HgCl(2) and L-proline units are linked to form an extended chain along the a axis. The chain structure is further stabilized by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, and the chains are arranged in layers parallel to the ab plane. The structure of the title compound was originally determined by Ehsan, Malik & Haider [(1996). J. Banglad. Acad. Sci.20, 175] but no three-dimensional coordinates are available.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title two-dimensional network, [HgCl(2)(C(11)H(10)N(2)O)](n), the asymmetric unit consists of HgCl(2) dumbbells and one mol-ecule of the quinazoline unit. Pseudo-octa-hedrally coordinated Hg(II) cations are chloride-bridged via a crystallographic inversion centre leading to different Hg-Cl bonds (short and long) and linked by other Cl atoms via translation along the a axis. The quinazoline ligands connect the Hg-Cl-Hg-Cl chains by N and O atoms along the b axis, forming the two-dimensional network structure. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak non-classical C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distances = 3.942 (4) and 3.621 (4) Å].

Project description:The framework of the title compound, {(NH(3)CH(2)CH(2)NH(3))[CdCl(4)]}(n), is built upon layers parallel to (100) made up from corner-sharing [CdCl(6)] octa-hedra. NH(3)CH(2)CH(2)NH(3) (2+) cations are situated between the layers and are linked to the layers via an N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding network. Project description:In the title coordination polymer, [Hg(2)Cl(4)(C(6)H(12)N(2))](n), each Hg(II) center within the chain is four-coordinated by one terminal Cl atom, two bridging μ(2)-Cl atoms, and one N-atom donor from a μ(2)-1,4-diaza-bicyclo-[2.2.2]octane (μ(2)-daco) ligand in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The daco ligand acts as an end-to-end bridging ligand and bridges adjacent Hg(II) centers, forming a chain running along [001]. Weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link the chains into a three-dimensional network. Comparison of the structural differences with previous findings suggests that the space between the two N donors, as well as the skeletal rigidity in N-heterocyclic linear ligands, may play an important role in the construction of such supra-molecular networks.

Project description:The title compound, [Pb(4)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(3)Cl(2)](n), consists of a three-dimensional inorganic-organic hybrid framework. The asymmetric unit contains two Pb(2+) cations, one Cl(-) anion and one and a half terephthalate anions, the latter being completed by inversion symmetry. The two Pb(2+) cations are each surrounded by five O atoms and one Cl atom in the form of irregular polyhedra. The cations are linked by μ(2)-O and μ(2)-Cl atoms into binuclear units, which are further extended through Pb-O inter-actions into an undulated inorganic layer parallel to (001). Project description:The title compound, [HgCl(2)(C(4)H(5)N(3))](n), features a two-dimensional network parallel to (001) that is based on an Hg(II) atom octahedrally coordinated by four μ(2)-Cl atoms and two μ(2)-2-amino-pyrimidine (apym) ligands in trans positions, yielding a distorted HgCl(4)N(2) octa-hedron. The coordination network can be described as an uninodal 4-connected net with the sql topology. The Hg(II) ion lies on a site of -1 symmetry and the apym ligand lies on sites of m symmetry with the mirror plane perpendicular to the pyrimidine plane and passing through the NH(2) group N atom. This polymeric structure is stabilized by N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds and columnar π-π stacking of pyrimidine rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.832 (2) Å.
