Tetra-aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline-κN,N')magnesium(II) bis-[(2,4-dichloro-phen-yl)acetate].

ABSTRACT: In the mononuclear title complex, [Mg(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](C(8)H(5)Cl(2)O(2))(2), each Mg(II) ion is hexa-coordinated by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [Mg-N = 2.233 (2) Å] and four water mol-ecules [Mg-OW = 2.033 (2) and 2.043 (1) Å] in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. A twofold rotation axis passes through the Mg atom. In the crystal structure, the cations and anions are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.804 (2) Å] into layers parallel to the ac plane.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(2)HCl(2)O(2))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) ion has a distorted square-pyramidal coordination geometry. The equatorial positions are occupied by two N atoms from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand [Cu-N = 1.994 (3) and 2.027 (3) Å] and two O atoms from dichloro-acetate ligands and a water mol-ecule [Cu-O = 1.971 (2) and 1.939 (2) Å]. One O atom from another dichloro-acetate ligand occupies the apical positon [Cu-O = 2.152 (3) Å]. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into centrosymmetric dimers. Project description:In the title mononuclear complex, [Cd(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)]SO(4)·2H(2)O, the coordination geometry around the Cd(II) atom is a distorted octa-hedron, with two aqua ligands occupying the axial positions. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of a two-dimensional layer structure parallel to (001). The layers are connected by π-π inter-actions between the pyridyl and benzene rings of the phenanthroline ligands [centroid-centroid distances = 3.591 (1) and 3.610 (1) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [SnCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·0.5C(2)H(4)Cl(2), contains a tin complex and one disordered half-mol-ecule of the solvent dichloro-ethane [occupancies 0.71 (2):0.29 (2)]. The six coordinate Sn(IV) atom adopts a distorted octa-hedral geometry. π-π inter-actions between adjacent aromatic rings [interplanar distance 3.483 (5) Å] seem to be effective in the stabilization of the crystal packing.

Project description:The title complex, [Sr(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)](C(2)N(10)), contains an [Sr(phen)(2)(H(2)O)(4)](2+) cation (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline) and a 5,5'-diazenediylditetra-zolide anion (site symmetry 2). The Sr(2+) cation (site symmetry 2) is coordinated by four N atoms from two chelating phen and four water mol-ecules. In the crystal structure, the water mol-ecules and the N atoms in the tetra-zolide rings form an extensive range of O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds which link the complex into a two-dimensional structure. An adjacent layer further yields a three-dimensional supramolecular network by offset face-to-face π-π stacking inter-actions of the phen ligands [with centroid-centroid distances of 3.915 (2) and 4.012 (2) Å]. The two bridging N atoms of the anion are equally disordered about the twofold rotation axis.

Project description:The title compound, [Co(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)(4)](2)[Co(H(2)O)(6)](C(11)H(7)O(8))(2)·4H(2)O, was obtanied by the reaction of cobalt acetate with 3,5-bis-(carb-oxy-meth-oxy)benzoic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline. The asymmetric unit contains one tetra-aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline)cobalt(II) cation, one half of a hexa-aqua-cobalt(II) cation that is completed by inversion symmetry, one 3,5-bis-(carboxyl-atometh-oxy)benzoate trianion and two lattice water mol-ecules. The two Co(II) atoms each show a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination (CoO(6) and CoO(4)N(2)). The cations, anions and lattice water mol-ecules are linked by an intricate network of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(C(2)N(3))(2)(C(12)H(6)Cl(2)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two chelating 4,7-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline (4,7-Cl-phen) ligands and two dicyanamide (dca) ligands in a cis arrangement, forming a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The equatorial plane is occupied by three N atoms from two 4,7-Cl-phen ligands and one N atom from a dca ligand at shorter Cu-N distances. Due to the Jahn-Teller effect, the axial positions are occupied by a 4,7-Cl-phen N atom and a dca N atom at longer Cu-N distances. The dca ligands are nearly planar, with a maximum deviations of 0.006 (1) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, with cyanide N atoms as acceptors, and π-π inter-actions between adjacent phenyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.725 (3) Å].
