ABSTRACT: In the title compound, C(11)H(10)NO(3) (+)·NO(3) (-)·H(2)O, the planar 8-carboxy-methoxy-quinolinium cation, the nitrate anion and the water mol-ecule are dimerized by hydrogen bonds into square building-block units, and then further assembled into two-dimensional gently undulating supra-molecular layers.

Project description:In the anion of the title hydrated mol-ecular salt, C9H8N(+)·C8H4NO6 (-)·H2O, the protonated carboxyl and nitro groups makes dihedral angles of 27.56 (5) and 6.86 (8)°, respectively, with the attached benzene ring, whereas the deprotonated carb-oxy group is almost orthogonal to it with a dihedral angle of 80.21 (1)°. In the crystal, the components are linked by O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating [001] chains. The packing is consolidated by weak C-H⋯N and C-H⋯O inter-actions as well as aromatic π-π stacking [centroid-to-centroid distances: 3.7023 (8) & 3.6590 (9)Å] inter-actions, resulting in a three-dimensional network.

Project description:In the title compound, C(20)H(21)N(2) (+)·C(7)H(7)O(4)S(-)·H(2)O, the cation is nearly planar and exists in the E configuration. The cations and anions form individual chains along the b axis and are inter-connected by weak C-H?O inter-actions. The 4-methoxy-benzensulfonate anions are linked to water mol-ecules through O-H?O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure is further stabilized by a C-H?? inter-action involving the methoxy-phenyl ring. The sulfonate anion is also involved in a weak intra-molecular C-H?O inter-action which generates an S(5) ring motif.

Project description:The structure of the title adduct compound, C(10)H(8)NO(2) (+)·C(6)H(2)N(3)O(9)S(-)·C(10)H(7)NO(2), from the reaction of 2,4,6-trinitro-benzene-sulfonic acid (picrylsulfonic acid) with quinoline-2-carboxylic acid (quinaldic acid) in 2-propanol-water, has been determined at 130 (2) K. The cation and the adduct species form a twisted cyclic hydrogen-bonded R(2) (2)(10) pseudo-dimer which is extended into a one-dimensional chain structure through short head-to-tail carboxylic acid O-H⋯O(carbox-yl) associations [O⋯O = 2.4711 (19) Å]. The picrylsulfonate anions are attached peripherally by single N-H⋯O(sulfonate) hydrogen bonds [N⋯O = 2.8643 (19) Å].

Project description:The title compound, C(7)H(8)NO(2) (+)·Br(-)·H(2)O, is isomorphous with 2-carboxy-anilinium chloride monohydrate and contains an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond, forming an S(6) motif. The main inter-molecular inter-actions are of the N-H⋯O/Br and O-H⋯O/Br types. Hydrogen-bonding dimers are formed via the carboxyl groups and the uncoordinated water mol-ecule, with centrosymmetric R(4) (4)(12) ring motifs, in tandem with centrosymmetric R(8) (4)(16) ring motifs formed by the cations and bromide anions. The hydrogen-bonded ring motifs inter-sect, forming chains with graph-set motif C(4) (3)(10) extending along the a axis. These form a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded network in (101) which is extended along [010] through N-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds. Hydro-philic layers are generated at z = 0 and 1/2 which are sandwiched between alternate hydro-phobic layers across z = 1/4 and 3/4.

Project description:In the mol-ecule of the title compound, C(7)H(8)NO(2) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond results in the formation of a non-planar six-membered ring adopting a flattened boat conformation. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules. There is a C=O⋯π contact between the carbonyl unit and the centroid of the benzene ring. There is a C=O⋯π contact [C⋯Cg = 3.5802 (18), C-O⋯Cg = 89 (1)°] between the carbonyl unit and the centroid of the benzene ring.

Project description:In the title salt hydrate, C(11)H(12)ClN(2) (+)·Cl(-)·H(2)O, the quinolin-ium core is essentially planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.027 Å) with the chloro-ethyl side chain being almost orthogonal to the core [C-N-C-C torsion angle = -80.0 (3)°]. In the crystal packing, the water mol-ecule bridges three species, forming donor inter-actions to two chloride anions and accepting a hydrogen bond from the quinolinium H atom. The chloride anion accepts a hydrogen bond from the amine N atom with the result that a two-dimensional supra-molecular array is formed in the ac plane. A C-H⋯Cl interaction also occurs.

Project description:In the title hydrated mol-ecular salt, 2C(7)H(8)NO(2) (+)·SO(4) (2-)·H(2)O, each cation in the asymmetric unit is stabilized by an intra-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bond. The O atoms of the sulfate ion are disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.541 (13):0.459 (13), which possibly optimizes the acceptance of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds from the cations. The crystal structure also features aromatic π-π stacking [centroid-centroid separation = 3.842 (2) Å] and a C-H⋯π inter-action.
