Bis(2-amino-thia-zolium) succinate succinic acid.

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, 2C(3)H(5)N(2)S(+)·C(4)H(4)O(4) (2-)·C(4)H(6)O(4), the thia-zolium ring is almost planar, with the maximum deviation from planarity being 0.0056 (8) Å for the C atom carrying the amine substituent. The N atom of the 2-amino-thia-zole mol-ecule is protonated. Both the anion and the acid lie across inversion centres. The crystal packing is consolidated by inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Mol-ecules are stacked down the b axis.

Project description:In the title compound, 2C(4)H(7)N(2) (+)·C(4)H(4)O(4) (2-)·C(4)H(6)O(4), the asymmetric unit consists of two 4-methyl-imidazolium cations, one succinate dianion and one netrual succinic acid mol-ecule and within the latter components, the C-O, C=O and C O bonds are clearly evidenced from their relative distances. In the crystal structure, the individual components are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a two-dimensional network parallel to the (101) plane in which R(3) (3)(9), R(3) (3)(12) and R(4) (4)(18) hydrogen-bond motifs are present.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title salt adduct, 2C6H14N(+)·C4H4O4 (2-)·C4H6O4, consists of two cyclo-hexyl-ammonium cations, one succcinate dianion and one neutral succinic acid mol-ecule. Succinate dianions and succinic acid mol-ecules are self-assembled head-to-tail through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and adopt a syn-syn configuration, leading to a strand-like arrangement along [101]. The cyclo-hexyl-ammonium cations have a chair conformation and act as multidentate hydrogen-bond donors linking adjacent strands through inter-molecular N-H⋯O inter-actions to both the succinate and the succinic acid components. This results in two-dimensional supra-molecular layered structures lying parallel to (010).
