Poly[bis-(μ(3)-5-nitro-isophthalato)bis-(1,10-phenanthroline)dimanganese(II)].

ABSTRACT: The title complex, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized under hydro-thermal conditions. The structure contains two independent Mn(II) atoms, each coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral MnN(2)O(4) geometry. [Mn(2)(phen)(2)] units (phen = 1,10-phenantroline) are bridged by 5-nitro-isophthalate (nip) ligands into ladder-like chains parallel to [100]. Adjacent polymeric chains are linked by C-H⋯O and π-π inter-actions [centroid-to-centroid distance = 3.6369 (12) Å] into a two-dimensional framework parallel to (010).

Project description:The title copper coordination polymer, [Cu(3)(C(8)H(4)O(4))(2)(C(8)H(5)O(4))(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was synthesized by reacting Cu(NO(3))(2), isophthalic acid and 1,10-phenanthroline under hydro-thermal conditions. The trinuclear unit presents a central almost planar CuO(4) chromophore with the cation on a symmetry center, and two symmetry-related CuN(2)O(3) groups with the metal centre in a distorted square-pyramidal environment. These units are bridged by isophthalate ligands into one-dimensional double-chain coordination polymers which are, in turn, connected by various π-π stacking inter-actions (face-to-face distance ca 3.45 Å) and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:The title polymeric compound, [Mn(2)(C(10)H(2)O(8))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), was obtained by the reaction of manganese(II) chloride tetra-hydrate with benzene-1,2,4,5-tetra-carboxylic acid (H(4)bta) in aqueous solution. Each Mn(2+) ion is coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by two N atoms from one 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four O atoms [Mn-O = 2.116 (2)-2.237 (2) Å] from three bta(4-) ligands, which also act as bridging groups between the Mn(2+) ions.

Project description:In the title coupound, [Mn(C(9)H(6)O(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), the Mn(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms [Mn-N = 2.273 (3) and 2.305 (2) Å] from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four O atoms [Mn-O = 2.112 (2)-2.343 (3) Å] from three 5-methyl-isophthalate (mip) ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Each mip dianion acts as a tetra-dentate ligand connecting three Mn ions. The crystal packing exhibits π-π inter-actions [3.599 (2)-3.755 (2) Å] between the centroids of the six-membered rings of neighbouring 1,10-phenanthroline ligands.

Project description:In the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(8)H(3)NO(6))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)(H(2)O)(4)], the Mn(II) atom in the centrosymmetric binuclear unit has a distorted octa-hedral geometry and is coordinated by a chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two monodentate carboxyl-ate anions from two 4-nitro-phthalates and two coordinated water mol-ecules. The two Mn(II) ions in the mol-ecule are bridged by two 4-nitro-phthalate anions, both in a bis-monodentate mode, which finally leads to the formation of the binuclear unit. Intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated and uncoordinated O atoms of one monodentate carboxyl-ate group and the corresponding coordinated water mol-ecules result in an eight-membered and two six-membered rings. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the dinuclear mol-ecules into supra-molecular chains propagating parallel to [100].

The asymmetric unit contains two Cd(II) ions, two pyrazino-[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline, two 5-hy-droxy-isophthalate (hip) ligands and two lattice water mol-ecules. Each Cd(II) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from a chelating pyrazino-[2,3-f][1,10]phenanthroline and four O atoms from three different hip ligands, resulting in a distorted CdN(2)O(4) octa-hedral coordination environment. The hip ligand connects adjacent Cd(II) ions, forming forming layers parallel to (010). Intralayer O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the hydroxy groups and solvent water molecules consolidate the crystal packing.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Fe(C(9)H(4)O(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)](n), contains one Fe(II) cation, one 5-carboxy-benzene-1,3-dicarboxyl-ate dianion (Hbtc), one 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) ligand and one water mol-ecule. The Fe(II) centre displays a distorted octa-hedral geometry, being surrounded by one phen ligand, two μ(2)-O atoms of two carboxyl-ate groups from two Hbtc ligands, one O atom from one carboxyl-ate of another Hbtc ligand and one terminal water mol-ecule. One carboxyl-ate group ligates two Fe(II) cations in a μ(1,1) mode, while the other carboxyl-ate groups bonds to only one Fe atom. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the binuclear title complex, [Co(N(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](n), each Co(II) cation is coordinated by two N atoms from one chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and four azide ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination. The two Co(II) cations of the binuclear complex are related by an inversion centre and are bridged by two symmetry-related azide ligands in both μ(1,1) and μ(1,3) modes. The μ(1,3) bridging mode gives rise to an infinite one-dimensional chain along the a axis, whereas the μ(1,1) bridging mode is responsible for the formation of the binuclear Co(II) complex.
