4-(Carboxy-meth-yl)anilinium chloride.
Ontology highlight
ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title compound, C(8)H(10)NO(2) (+)·Cl(-), alternating layers of hydro-phobic and hydro-philic zones stack along the c axis. The chloride anions are sandwiched between the 4-(carboxy-meth-yl)anilinium layers, forming inter-molecular O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds with the ammonium and carboxyl groups of the cations. In addition, inter-molecular N-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds help stabilize the crystal structure.
