ABSTRACT: In the title mol-ecule, C(20)H(16)N(2)O(2), the benzimidazole mean plane forms dihedral angles of 56.55 (3) and 81.65 (4)° with the two benzene rings. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into layers parallel to the (101) plane. The crystal packing also exhibits weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:Crystals of the title compound were obtained as a 1:1 dimethyl sulfoxide solvate, C(20)H(16)N(2)O(2)·C(2)H(6)O. The mol-ecular conformation of the organic mol-ecule is similar to that in the previously reported unsolvated structure [Eltayeb et al. (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. E65, o1374-o1375]. Thus, the dihedral angles formed by the benzimidazole moiety with the two benzene rings are 57.54 (4) and 76.22 (5)°, and the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 89.23 (5)°. In the crystal, a three-dimensional network features O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, as well as C-H⋯O and C-H⋯π inter-actions.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, C(15)H(14)N(2)O(2), the substituted benzene ring forms a dihedral angle of 4.15 (1)° with the benzimidazole ring system. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond generates an S(6) ring motif. In the solid state, mol-ecules are linked into chains along the [001] via inter-molecular bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen bonds, which generate R(1) (2)(5) ring motifs. The crystal packing is also consolidated by C-H⋯π inter-actions, and π-π stacking inter-actions between the imidazole and substituted benzene rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5746 (13) Å]. The methyl group attached to the benzimidazole ring system is disordered over two positions with occupancies of 0.587 (6) and 0.413 (6), suggesting 180° rotational disorder for the benzimidazole group.

The relative conformation of these rings may be influenced by an intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. Project description:In the structure of the title compound, C(17)H(17)BrN(2)O, the central phenyl and imidazol-2-one rings are coplanar (dihedral angle between planes of 0.73 (11)°). The angles subtended by the substituents on the N atoms of the imidazol-2-one ring range from 109.71 (14)° to 128.53 (15) due to steric hindrance of these substituents with the phenyl H atoms. The carbonyl O and Br both make two weak C-H⋯O and C-H⋯Br inter-actions with two adjacent mol-ecules, thus forming an three-dimensional array.

Project description:The title solvated salt, C29H41N2 (+)·Br(-)·2CH2Cl2 was obtained from the reaction of the Arduengo-type carbene 1,3-bis-(2,6-diiso-propyl-phen-yl)-1,3-dihydro-4,5-dimethyl-2H-imidazol-2-ylidene with Si2Br6 in di-chloro-methane. The complete cation is generated by a crystallographic mirror plane and the dihedral angle between the five-membered ring and the benzene ring is 89.8 (6)°; the dihedral angle between the benzene rings is 40.7 (2)°. The anion also lies on the mirror plane and both di-chloro-methane mol-ecules are disordered across the mirror plane over two equally occupied orientations. In the crystal, the cations are linked to the anions via C-H⋯Br hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the hydro-thermally prepared title coordination polymer, [Ni(C(2)H(6)NO(3)S)(2)(C(12)H(10)N(4))](n), the Ni(II) ion and the 1,4-bis-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)benzene ligand occupy special positions on inversion centers. The metal ion shows a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry, being linked to two N atoms of two 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)benzene ligands and to two O and two N atoms of two chelating 2-amino-ethane-sulfonate ligands. The 1,4-bis-(imidazol-1-yl)benzene ligands bridge symmetry-related Ni(II) ions forming polymeric chains along the [110] direction.
