Bis(2,2'-bipyridine-κN,N')(thio-cyanato-κN)copper(II) perchlorate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of title compound, [Cu(NCS)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), contains a bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)(isothio-cyanato)copper(II) cation and a perchlorate anion. In the cation, the Cu(2+) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two bidentate 2,2'-bipyridine mol-ecules and an N atom from an isothio-cyanate anion, resulting in a distorted CuN(5) pyramidal configuration. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O and C-H⋯S hydrogen bonds, and weak π-π inter-actions between 2,2'-bipyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.908 (4) Å]. The perchlorate counteranion is disordered over two positions in a 0.66:0.34 ratio.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the five-coordinated Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal CuN(4)O environment; the O atom is in the axial position whereas the N atoms from two bipyridine (bipy) ligands are in the equatorial plane. In the crystal, mol-ecules are assembled by C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding and π-π inter-actions between bipy groups [centroid-centroid distances = 3.7686 (16) and 3.7002 (16) Å] into a three-dimensional network. The nitrite anion is equally disordered over two sets of sites.

Project description:In the title salt, [Cu(NCS)(C(6)H(6)N(4))(2)]Cl, the Cu(II) atom adopts a five-coordinated square-pyramidal geometry consisting of an N atom from a thio-cyanate anion and four N atoms from two chealting biimidazole ligands. The thio-cyanate ligand occupies the axial position and is, like the Cu(II) centre, located on a mirror plane. The cation and anion are linked into a linear chain by N-H⋯S and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the cation of the title compound, [CoCl(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]ClO(4), the Co(II) atom displays a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal coordination geometry. The two pyridine rings in each 2,2'-bipyridine ligand form dihedral angles of 10.75 (12) and 4.28 (13)°. The crystal packing is stabilized by inter-ionic C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, C-H⋯π inter-actions and aromatic π-π stacking inter-actions, with centroid-centroid distances of 3.616 (7) Å.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(C(5)H(3)O(2)S)(2)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(H(2)O)], the Cu(II) atom is in a distorted square-pyramidal environment, with an Addison τ parameter of 0.07. The coordination geometry is defined by two nitro-gen donors from the 2,2'-bipyridine ligand, two O atoms from two monodentate thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ate ligands and one O atom from the aqua ligand. The latter occupies the elongated apical position. This is different from the related structure of aqua-(1,10-phenanthroline)bis-(thio-phene-2-carboxyl-ato)copper(II) where a carboxyl-ate O atom is in the apical position [Feng et al. (2005 ▶). Z. Kristallogr. New Cryst. Struct.220, 429-430]. The uncoordinated carboxyl-ate O atoms form intra- and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds to the aqua ligand. Two neighbouring 2,2'-bipyridine ligands form a π-stack, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.683 (2) Å.

Project description:The title compound, [Cu(2)(CN)(SCN)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)](n), contains two crystallographically independent Cu(I) atoms, each in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. Each Cu atom is coordinated by a bidentate chelating 2,2'-bipyridine ligand. A bridging cyanide anion links the two Cu(2,2'-bipyridine) units to form a binuclear unit. Adjacent binuclear units are connected by a thio-cyanate anion into a one-dimensional helical chain along [010]. The cyanide anion is disordered, with each site occupied by both C and N atoms in an occupancy ratio of 0.61 (5):0.39 (5). The S atom of the thio-cyanate anion is also disordered over two sites, with occupancy factors of 0.61 (3) and 0.39 (3). There are π-π inter-actions between the pyridyl rings of neighbouring chains [centroid-centroid distance = 3.82 (1) Å].

In the crystal, the coordinated water mol-ecules, isothio-cyanate ions and solvent 4,4'-bipyridine mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯S and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into layers parallel to the ab plane.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(NCS)(2)(C(6)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Cu(II) atom, lying on an inversion center, adopts a Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral CuN(6) coordination geometry. The two bidentate 2-amino-methyl-pyridine ligands are coordinated in a trans fashion, while the two thio-cyanate ligands are at the axial positions and coordinate to the Cu atom in a bent mode with a C-N-Cu angle of 127.49 (10)°. Inter-molecular N-H⋯N and N-H⋯S hydrogen bonds link the copper complex mol-ecules into an infinite two-dimensional network.

Project description:The unit cell of the title compound, [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(4)](ClO(4))(2)·C(10)H(8)N(2), consists of a binuclear cation, two perchlor-ate anions, and one solvent 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) mol-ecule. In the complex cation [Mn(2)(C(2)O(4))(C(10)N(2)H(8))(4)](2+), two Mn(II) atoms are bridged by a bis-(bidentate) oxalate ligand, each Mn(II) atom being further coordinated by two bpy ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The distance between the two six-coordinated metal atoms is 5.583 (1) Å. π-π stacking inter-actions [inter-planar distances between bpy rings = 3.739 (1) Å] are essential to the supramolecular assembly. There are extensive inter-ionic C-H⋯O inter-actions between the cations and between the cation and anion. Three of the four perchlorate O atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with occupancy ratios of 0.852 (6):0.148 (6).
