Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(12)H(12)N(2), contains two half-mol-ecules related by an inversion center, the planes of their pyridine rings being oriented at a dihedral angle of 69.62 (4)°. In the crystal structure, a π-π contact between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.895 (3) Å] may stabilize the structure. A weak C-H⋯π inter-action is also found.

Project description:The title complex, [Cd(C(2)HN(9))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)]·0.5C(10)H(8)N(2)·H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal reaction conditions. The asymmetric unit contains the cadmium complex, half a 2,2'-bipyridine solvent mol-ecule and a solvent water mol-ecule. The Cd(II) ion is coordinated by four N atoms from two 2,2'-bipyridine ligands and two N atoms from an HBTA(-) anion ligand [where H(2)BTA is N,N-bis-(1H-tetra-zol-5-yl)amine], forming an octa-hedral geometry. The complex is linked into a three-dimensional network by O-H⋯N and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds and by the stacking inter-actions of rings, with distances of 3.5-3.7 Å between the atoms of two parallel 2,2'-bipyridine rings.

Project description:In the title compound, [Pt(CH(3))(3)I(C(12)H(12)N(2))], the Pt(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral configuration with one CH(3) group and the I atom forming a near perpendicular axis relative to the square plane formed by the bipyridine ligand and the two remaining CH(3) groups. The CH(3) group trans to the I atom has a slightly elongated bond to Pt compared to the other CH(3) groups, indicating a difference in trans influence between iodine and the bipyridine ligand.

Project description:The metal site in the title compound [MnCl(2)(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)]·2.5H(2)O has a distorted octa-hedral geometry, coordinated by four N atoms of two 5,5'-dimethyl-2,2'-dipyridine ligands and two Cl atoms. Two and a half water molecules of hydration per complex unit are observed in the crystal structure. The compounds extend along the c axis with O-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O, C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.70 (2) Å] contributing substanti-ally to the crystal packing. The Mn and one of the water O atoms, the latter being half-occupied, are located on special positions, in this case a rotation axis of order 2.

Project description:In the title polymeric compound, [Pb(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(4))](n), the Pb(II) cation, located on a mirror plane, is N,N'-chelated by a 2-2'-bipyridine-5,5'-dicarboxyl-ate (bpdc) anion and is further coordinated by six O atoms from four carboxyl groups of bpdc anions in an irregular N(2)O(6) geometry. The carboxylate groups bridge the Pb(II) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The carboxyl-ate group is twisted away from the attached pyridine ring by 11.4 (3)°.

Project description:In the title compound, [Cu(2)Cl(2)(NO(3))(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2)O(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)], which consists of a chloride-bridged Cu(II) dimer, the Cu atom is in a distorted octa-hedral environment defined by two N atoms from the 2,2'-bipyridine-4,4'-dicarboxylic acid ligand (H(2)bpdca), two bridging chlorido ligands, and two O atoms from an equatorial water mol-ecule and an axial nitrate anion, respectively. The two halves of the dimeric unit are related by an inversion centre at the midpoint between the two Cu atoms. Both carboxylic acid groups in the H(2)bpdca ligand remain protonated, as confirmed by the two sets of C-O bond lengths. The dinuclear mol-ecules are linked into a three-dimensional network via inter-molecular hydrogen bonds.
