Cis-Bis[(1-adamantylmeth-yl)amine-κN]-dichloridoplatinum(II) N,N-dimethyl-formamide solvate.

ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound {systematic name: cis-dichloridobis[(3,7-dimethylbicyclo-[3.3.1]non-1-ylmeth-yl)-amine-κN]platinum(II) N,N-dimethyl-formamide solvate}, [PtCl(2)(C(11)H(19)N)(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, consists of two metrically similar Pt complexes and two dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecules. Each Pt(II) center is coordinated by the amine groups of two (1-adamantylmeth-yl)amine ligands and two Cl atoms in a cis-square-planar arrangement. The Pt(II) centers lie slightly outside [0.031 (4) and 0.038 (4) Å] the coordination planes. The N-Pt-N and Cl-Pt-Cl angles [92.1 (4)-92.30 (11)°] are slightly more open than the N-Pt-Cl angles [87.3 (3)-88.3 (3)°]. N-H⋯O and N-H⋯Cl inter-molecular hydrogen bonds are observed, forming two discrete pairs of complexes and solvent mol-ecules.

Project description:In the title complex, [CoCl(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)]·C(3)H(7)NO, which has twofold rotation symmetry, the Co(II) cation is coordinated by two 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules and two chloride ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, a cavity is created by six complex mol-ecules connected by C-H⋯π inter-actions and non-classical C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. The cavities are occupied by the disordered dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule. A short Cd⋯N contact [2.890 (3) Å] to the monodentate sulfadiazinate ion also occurs. The dihedral angles between the planes of the aromatic rings of the anions are 86.81 (14) and 68.65 (14)°. The crystal structure features inter-molecular N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

The Co(II) atom is coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry by four N atoms from two bidentate 4-amino-N-(pyrimidin-2-yl)benzene-sulfonamidate (sulfadiazine) anions and two O atoms from two dimethyl-formamide (DMF) ligands. The dihedral angle between the benzene and pyrimidine rings is 82.37 (13)°. A three-dimensional network is generated by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the amino groups and of the sulfonamidate O atoms of neighbouring mol-ecules. The DMF ligand is disordered over two sets of sites in a 0.559 (4):0.441 (4) ratio.

However, in one of the DMPP ligands, the non-coordinated carbonyl O atom serves as the hydrogen-bond acceptor, whereas in the second ligand it is the Mn-coordinated O atom which is involved in the hydrogen bonding.
