2-Carbamylpyridinium tetra-chlorido-ferrate(III).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C(6)H(7)N(2)O)[FeCl(4)], contains two carbamylpyridinium (picolinamidinium) cations, which are linked into chains by N(+)-H⋯O hydrogen bonds formed between protonated pyridyl N atoms and carbonyl groups. Tetra-chloridoferrate(III) anions lie between these chains, accepting N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds from both H atoms of the picolinamidium -NH(2) group.

Project description:The mol-ecular geometry of the complex cation in the title structure, [(μ-Cl)(3){Ru(II)(η(6)-C(6)Me(6))}(2)][Fe(III)Cl(4)], compares very well with that reported earlier for the corresponding PF(6) (-) salt [Pandey et al. (1999 ▶). J. Organomet. Chem.592, 278-282]. The [FeCl(4)](-) counter ion has a rather regular tetra-hedral geometry with Fe-Cl distances and Cl-Fe-Cl angles in the range 2.1891 (7)-2.2018 (8) Å and 107.10 (3)-110.56 (3)°, respectively. There are no significant inter-molecular inter-actions in the crystal except for some weak C-H⋯Cl contacts, which in turn indicates that the crystal packing is determined predominantly by electrostatic inter-actions between the ionic constituents.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hybrid compound, (C9H8N)[FeCl4]Cl, comprises a tetra-hedral tetra-chlorido-ferrate(III) anion, [FeCl4](-), a Cl(-) anion and two quinolinium cations. There are N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the protonated N atoms of the quinolinium cations and the chloride anion, which together with π-π stacking between adjacent quinolinium rings [centroid-to-centroid distances between C6 and C5N rings in adjacent stacked quinolinium cations of 3.609 (2) and 3.802 (2) Å] serve to hold the structure together.

Project description:In the crystal of the title compound, (C4H12N)[FeCl4]·C12H24O6, the butan-1-aminium cation and the tetra-chloridoferrate(III) anion have m symmetry: in the cation, the non-H atoms are located on the mirror plane and in the anion, the Fe(III) atom and two Cl atoms are located on the mirror plane. The 18-crown-6 mol-ecule also has m symmetry, with two O atoms located on the mirror plane. The butan-1-amine cation and the 18-crown-6 mol-ecule are connected by N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Each unique benzene-1,4-dicarbonitrile mol-ecule lies across a crystallographic inversion centre and bridges two Fe(II) ions (each situated on an inversion centre), generating two-dimensional (4,4) square grid layers. The tetra-chloridoferrate(III) anions and nitro-methane solvent mol-ecules lie between the square grid layers and are further link to the adjacent layers into a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure through O-H⋯Cl and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title compound, (C8H20N)[Fe(C44H28N4)(CN)2]·CH2Cl2 or (Et4N)[Fe(TPP)(CN)2], was recrystallized from di-chloro-methane-diethyl ether. The compound crystallizes with the two unique halves of the Fe(III) porphyrinato complex, one tetra-ethyl-ammonium cation and one inter-stitial di-chloro-methane mol-ecule within the asymmetric unit. Both anionic Fe(III) complexes exhibit inversion symmetry. Both the cation and the solvent mol-ecules show positional disorder. The cation is disordered over two sets of sites with an occupancy ratio of 0.710 (3):0.290 (3); the solvent mol-ecule is disordered over three positions with a 0.584 (6):0.208 (3):0.202 (5) ratio. The crystal packing features columns of [Fe(TPP)(CN)2](-) anions that propagate along [001]. The columns further pack into layers that are parallel to (011) and also include the Et4N(+) cations. The inter-stitial CH2Cl2 mol-ecules appear in the inter-layer space. This complex may serve as a useful precursor for the assembly of multinuclear and extended CN-bridged complexes for the design of single-mol-ecule and single-chain magnets, respectively.
