Bis(2,3,5-triphenyl-tetra-zolium) tetra-thio-cyanato-cobaltate(II).

ABSTRACT: The title compound, (C(19)H(15)N(4))(2)[Co(NCS)(4)], has two crystallographycally different molecules of bis-(2,3,5-triphenyl-tetra-zolium) tetra-thio-cyanatecobaltate in the asymmetric unit. There are only minor geometric differences between them. Each cobalt(II) ion is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS anions, showing the magnitude of the magnetic moment expected from the NCS(-) crystal field strength.

Project description:The title complex, [Na(C(18)H(22)O(5))(H(2)O)](2)[Co(NCS)(4)], consists of two aqua-(2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5)sodium complex cations and one [Co(NCS)(4)](2-) complex anion, which has crystallographic symmetry. In the anion, the Co(II) centre is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. In the complex cations, the Na(I) centre is coordinated by five O atoms of the 2,3-naphtho-15-crown-5 ligand and one water O atom. The complex mol-ecules form a two-dimensional network via weak O-H⋯S inter-actions between adjacent cations and anions.

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C21H16N4)2][Co(NCS)4]·CH3OH, consists of one [Co{C(py)4}2](2+) complex cation [C(py)4 = tetra-kis-(pyridin-2-yl)methane], one [Co(NCS)4](2-) complex anion and a methanol solvent mol-ecule. In the cation, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms of two C(py)4 ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the anion, the Co(II) atom is coordinated by the N atoms of four NCS(-) ligands in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The methanol mol-ecule is disordered and was modelled over three orientations (occupancies 0.8:0.1:0.1). There are two weak hydrogen-bond-like inter-actions between the methanol solvent mol-ecule and NCS(-) ligands of the anion [O⋯S = 3.283 (3) and 3.170 (2) Å].

Project description:The title compound, (C21H20OP)(C19H15N4)[CuCl4], was obtained by reacting CuCl2·2H2O with a mixture of one equivalent of acetonyltri-phenyl-phospho-nium chloride and one equivalent of 2,3,5-tri-phenyl-tetra-zolium chloride in aceto-nitrile. In the structure, the Cu centre in the dianion is bonded to four chloride ligands and adopts a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The phospho-nium cation likewise adopts the expected tetra-hedral geometry. The tetra-zolium ring forms dihedral angles of 77.68 (10), 26.85 (11) and 66.48 (10)° with the planes of the benzene rings of the substituent groups. In the crystal, weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions involving both cations and the anion give rise to a three-dimensional supra-molecular structure.

Project description:The reaction of nickel(II) thio-cyanate with an excess of pyridazine leads to single crystals of the title compound, [Ni(NCS)(2)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(4)]·2C(4)H(4)N(2). The Ni(II) cations are coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions (trans) and four pyridazine ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry. The discrete complexes are arranged into layers parallel to the ab plane which are separated by additional non-coordinated pyridazine ligands.

Project description:The reaction of one equivalent Co(NCS)2 with four equivalents of urotropine (hexa-methyl-ene-tetra-mine) in ethanol leads to the formation of two compounds, namely, bis-(ethanol-κO)bis-(thio-cyanato-κN)bis-(urotropine-κN)cobalt(II), [Co(NCS)2(C6H12N4)2(C2H6O)2] (1), and tetra-kis-(ethanol-κO)bis-(thio-cyanato-κN)cobalt(II)-urotropine (1/2), [Co(NCS)2(C2H6O)4]·2C6H12N4 (2). In 1, the Co cations are located on centers of inversion and are sixfold coordinated by two terminal N-bonded thio-cyanate anions, two ethanol and two urotropine ligands whereas in 2 the cobalt cations occupy position Wyckoff position c and are sixfold coordinated by two anionic ligands and four ethanol ligands. Compound 2 contains two additional urotropine solvate mol-ecules per formula unit, which are hydrogen bonded to the complexes. In both compounds, the building blocks are connected via inter-molecular O-H⋯N (1 and 2) and C-H⋯S (1) hydrogen bonding to form three-dimensional networks.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Mn(NCS)2(C12H9NO)4], consists of one MnII cation located on a centre of inversion, one thio-cyanate anion and two 4-benzoyl-pyridine co-ligands. The MnII cation is octa-hedrally coordinated by two terminally N-bonded anionic ligands and four N-bonded 4-benzoyl-pyridine co-ligands within a slightly distorted octa-hedron. Individual complexes are linked by inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions into chains running along the c-axis direction. Simultaneous thermogravimetry and differential scanning calorimetry measurements reveal a decomposition in two separate steps, in each of which two co-ligands are removed. The compound obtained after the first step has the composition [Mn(NCS)2(C12H9NO)2] and is of unknown structure, before in the second step decomposition into [Mn(NCS)2] is observed. Magnetic susceptibility measurements show the MnII cations to be in the high-spin state, and that weak anti-ferromagnetic inter-actions between the complexes are present.

In the crystal, the tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations are linked by pairs of weak C-H⋯π inter-actions into supra-molecular dimers; the Co(II) cations lie on twofold rotation axes and the tetra-hedral [CoCl4](2-) anions are linked with the tetra-phenyl-phospho-nium cations via weak C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds.

Bis(triethyl-ammonium) tetra-chlorido-cobaltate(II).

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, (C(6)H(16)N)(2)[CoCl(4)], is comprised of a tetrahedral [CoCl(4)](2-) anion and two independent triethyl-ammonium cations. The latter are featureless while the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion exhibits typical Co-Cl bond lengths [2.2428 (15)-2.2847 (16) Å] and a Cl-Co-Cl angular range of 107.58 (6)-112.73 (7)°. In the crystal, N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds between the two crystallographically independent cations and the [CoCl(4)](2-) anion generate discrete ion triplets. The two Co-Cl bonds involved in these inter-actions are slightly longer than the remaining two.
