ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(14)H(12)N(2)O(2), which was synthesized unexpectedly by refluxing an ethano-lic solution of isonicotinic hydrazide and 3-hydroxy-benzaldehyde, contains one half-mol-ecule with the center of the N-N bond lying on a crystallographic center of inversion. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds into an infinite layer structure parallel to (110).
