Project description:In the title compound, [Ca(C(2)H(6)OS)(6)][W(6)O(19)], the cation and anion both have a crystallographically imposed centre of symmetry. The Ca(II) atom in the cation is coordinated by six O atoms from six dimethyl sulfoxide ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The [W(6)O(19)](2-) isopolyanion possesses the well-known Lindqvist structure in which each W(VI) atom is coordinated by four μ(2)-O, one terminal O and one μ(6)-O atom.

Project description:The title complex, [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](2)[Mo(6)O(19)](3)·4C(2)H(6)OS, was obtained as a byproduct of the reaction of [(C(4)H(9))(4)N](2)[Mo(6)O(19)] with Ce(NO(3))(3)·6H(2)O and phthalic acid in dimethyl-sulfoxide solution. The asymmetric unit consists of a complex [Ce(C(2)H(6)OS)(8)](3+) cation, one and a half of the Lindqvist-type [Mo(6)O(19)](2-) polyanions and two dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules; the half polyanion lies on an inversion center. The Ce(3+) ion is coordinated by eight dimethyl-sulfoxide ligands through the O atoms in the form of a distorted square antiprism. The Ce-O bond lengths range from 2.429 (6) to 2.550 (5) Å. The cohesion of the structure is ensured by S⋯O [3.115 (6), 3.242 (10) and 3.12 (3) Å], O⋯O [3.037 (10) Å] and C-H⋯O inter-actions between cations and anions. The S and C atoms of a dmso ligand are disordered over three sites in a 0.45:0.30:0.25 ratio. The dimethyl-sulfoxide solvent mol-ecules are highly disordered and could not be modelled successfully; their contribution was therefore removed from the refinement using the SQUEEZE routine in PLATON [Spek (2009 ▶). Acta Cryst. D65, 148-155]. Potential solvent-accessible voids of 500.0 Å(3) occur in the crystal structure.

The U atom is seven-coordinate in a penta-gonal-bipyramidal geometry. The uncoordinated hydr-oxy groups of the 2-hydr-oxy-2-methyl-propionate ions inter-act with the O atom of the uranyl and with the coordinated hydr-oxy group of an adjacent 2-hydr-oxy-2-methyl-propionate ion through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The deprotonated Schiff base ligand in the title compound, [Sn(C(4)H(9))(2)(C(18)H(12)N(2)O(3))], O,N,O'-chelates to the Sn atom, which is five-coordinated in a cis-C(2)NO(2)Sn trigonal-bipyramidal environment. The apical sites are occupied by the O atoms [O-Sn-O = 155.2 (2)°]. The hydr-oxy group is a hydrogen-bond donor to the two-coordinate N atom of an adjacent mol-ecule, the hydrogen-bonding inter-action giving rise to a helical chain running along the c axis. The carbon atoms of the butyl chains are equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:The coordination geometry at the Mo(VI) atom in the title compound, [Mo(C(16)H(14)N(2)O(4))O(2)(C(2)H(6)OS)], is distorted octa-hedral. The phenolate O, imino N, oxide O from the enolized carbonyl group and one of the terminal O atoms form the equatorial plane; the axial positions are occupied by the other terminal O atom of the dioxidomolybdenum group and the donor O atom of DMSO. The O=Mo=O angle is 105.31 (6)°. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds are present in the structure.

Project description:The title compound, C(28)H(24)N(2)O(5), a flexible Schiff base ligand, was prepared in high yield by a Schiff base condensation of 3-methoxy-salicylaldehyde and bis-(4-amino-phen-yl) ether in methanol. The mol-ecule lies on a twofold rotation axis, and each half exhibits an imine E configuration and an O-H⋯N hydrogen bond. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings attached to the central O atom is 69.22 (6)°, and that between each of these rings and the other benzene ring in the same half of the mol-ecule is 24.29 (11)°, illustrating the degree of twisting of the flexible mol-ecule.

Hydr-oxy-DMSO (DMSO is dimethyl sulfoxide) O-H⋯O and amide-DMSO N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the components of the crystal structure. Two of the DMSO mol-ecules are partially disordered, with each modelled over two sites of equal weight.
