The tetra-hydro-pyrimidine group of the N-(2,4,6-trimethyl-phen-yl)-1,4,5,6-tetra-hydro-pyrimidine ligand is twisted from the square (PdN(2)Br(2)) coordination plane with a C-N-Pd-Br torsion angle of 81.8 (4)°; this is different from the angle of 43.47 (14)°, reported in a closely related structure, dichloridobis(1-methyl-1,4,5,6-tetra-hydro-pyrimidine)-palladium(II).

Project description:Two new mononuclear metal complexes involving the bidentate Schiff base ligand 2,4,6-trimethyl-N-[(pyridin-2-yl)methyl-idene]aniline (C15H16N2 or PM-TMA), [Mn(NCS)2(PM-TMA)2] (I) and [Ni(NCS)2(PM-TMA)2] (II), were synthesized and their structures determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. Although the title compounds crystallize in different crystal systems [triclinic for (I) and monoclinic for (II)], both asymmetric units consist of one-half of the complex mol-ecule, i.e. one metal(II) cation, one PM-TMA ligand, and one N-bound thio-cyanate anion. In both complexes, the metal(II) cation is located on a centre of inversion and adopts a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment defined by four N atoms from two symmetry-related PM-TMA ligands in the equatorial plane and two N atoms from two symmetry-related NCS- anions in a trans axial arrangement. The tri-methyl-benzene and pyridine rings of the PM-TMA ligand are oriented at dihedral angles of 74.18 (7) and 77.70 (12)° for (I) and (II), respectively. The subtle change in size of the central metal cations leads to a different crystal packing arrangement for (I) and (II) that is dominated by weak C-H⋯S, C-H⋯π, and π-π inter-actions. Hirshfeld surface analysis and two-dimensional fingerprint plots were used to qu-antify these inter-molecular contacts, and indicate that the most significant contacts in packing are H⋯H [48.1% for (I) and 54.9% for (II)], followed by H⋯C/C⋯H [24.1% for (I) and 15.7% for (II)], and H⋯S/S⋯H [21.1% for (I) and 21.1% for (II)].

Project description:The title compound, [Pd(C(14)H(15)N(2))(2)], is a square-planar palladium complex composed of two deprotonated pyrrole-2-carbaldimine ligands coordinating a central Pd(II) atom. In the crystal, three crystallographically independent complex mol-ecules are observed, one of which is located in a general position, whereas the Pd(II) atoms of the other mol-ecules are situated on crystallographic inversion centers. The aromatic substituents at the imine N atoms in the three mol-ecules show dihedral angles of 87.6 (7)/83.64 (7), 74.3 (7) and 88.3 (7)° with respect to the corresponding PdN(4) plane.

In each mol-ecule, the Sn(IV) atom is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry by one bidentate 2,4-di-methyl-N-(pyridin-2-yl-methyl-idene)aniline ligand, two methyl groups and two Cl atoms. In the crystal, inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules. There are π-π contacts between the pyridine rings of the ligands [centroid-centroid distance = 3.761 (4) Å].

The three coordinating atoms along with the methyl C atom comprise a square plane, above and below which are positioned the Cl atoms. The amino group is a hydrogen-bond donor to a Cl atom of an adjacent mol-ecule, the hydrogen bond giving rise to a helical chain extending parallel to [100].

Project description:The Pd(II) ion in the title complex, [PdCl(2)(C(14)H(10)N(4))], is four-coordinated in a distorted square-planar environment defined by two N atoms of a chelating 2,3-di-2-pyridyl-pyrazine (dpp) ligand and two chloride anions. The pyridine ring coordinated to the Pd atom is inclined slightly to its carrier pyrazine ring [dihedral angle = 14.4 (3)°], whereas the uncoordinated pyridine ring is inclined considerably to the pyrazine ring [dihedral angle = 52.2 (2)°]. The dihedral angle between the two pyridine rings is 58.8 (2)°. In the crystal, complex mol-ecules are connected by inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. Intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds are also present.
