{2-[(2-Acetyl-hydrazin-1-yl-idene)methyl-?N,O]-6-methoxy-phenolato-?O}(nitrato-?O)copper(II) monohydrate.

ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [Cu(C(10)H(11)N(2)O(3))(NO(3))]·H(2)O, prepared from the Schiff base N'-(3-meth-oxy-2-oxidobenzyl-idene)-acetohydrazide, the Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two O atoms and one N atom from the ligand and one O atom from a nitrate group in a distorted square-planar geometry. The Cu(II) atom has a weak inter-action with another O atom of the nitrate group. The two O atoms of the tridentate Schiff base ligand are in a trans arrangement. O-H?O and N-H?O hydrogen bonds involving the uncoordinated water mol-ecule are observed.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(8)H(7)O(3))(NO(3))(C(12)H(12)N(2))(2)], the asymmetric unit contains a Ni(II) atom, two mol-ecules of 2-(benzyl-amino)pyridine, a mol-ecule of deprotonated o-vanillin (3-methoxy-salicylaldehydate) and a bidentate nitrate anion. The Ni(II) center is six-coordinated by two pyridine N atoms from 2-(benzyl-amino)pyridine, two O atoms from o-vanillin and two O atoms from the nitrate anion. The crystal packing shows two hydrogen bonds from the amine N-H group to the deprotonated phenol O atom of the o-vanillin moieties, as well as weak C-H⋯O secondary inter-actions. These inter-actions link the mol-ecules into ribbons in the c direction. The steric requirement of the bidentate nitrate and its small bite angle [61.01 (3)°] cause some orientation of the two 2-(benzyl-amino)pyridine groups. As a result, this coordination environment of the Ni(II) center is distorted octa-hedral, as the trans angles range from 158.65 (3) to 175.76 (3)° and the cis angles range from 61.01 (3) (for the bidentate nitrate O atoms) to 102.30 (4)°.

Project description:In the title mol-ecule, [Cu(C(8)H(7)O(3))(ClO(4))(C(12)H(8)N(2))], the Cu(II) ion is five-coordinated by two N atoms [Cu-N = 1.995 (3) and 2.022 (3) Å] from a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand, two O atoms [Cu-O = 1.908 (2) and 1.927 (2) Å] from an o-vanillin ligand and one O atom [Cu-O = 2.510 (3) Å] from a perchlorate anion in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Three O atoms of the perchlorate anion are rotationally disordered between two orientations, with occupancies of 0.525 (13) and 0.475 (13). In the crystal structure, two mol-ecules related by a centre of symmetry are paired in such a way that the phenolate O atom from one mol-ecule completes the distorted octa-hedral Cu coordination in another mol-ecule [Cu⋯O = 2.704 (2) Å].
