ABSTRACT: In the mononuclear title complex, [Co(NCS)(2)(C(9)H(10)N(2)O)(2)]·CH(3)OH, the cobalt(II) ion is surrounded by two (1-methyl-1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)methanol bidentate ligands and two thio-cyanate ligands, and exhibits a distorted octa-hedral coordination by four N atoms and two O atoms. The structure is consolidated by hydrogen bonds between the organic ligand, thio-cyanate anion and the uncoordinated methanol mol-ecule, leading to a chain along [100].

Project description:The title compound, [Cd(2)(NCS)(4)(C(8)H(8)N(2))(4)], is a centrosymmetric dinuclear cadmium(II) complex in which each two metal ions are linked by a pair of thio-cyanate N:S-bridges. Two 2-methyl-benzimidazole N-atom donors and one terminal thio-cyanate N atom complete a highly distorted square-pyramidal geometry around the Cd atom. In the crystal structure, two N-H⋯S hydrogen-bonding inter-actions occur, resulting in a three-dimensional polymeric structure. The apical 2-methyl-benzimidazole ring and its symmetry-related counterpart are arranged in an anti-parallel manner with a centroid-centroid separation of 3.6050 (14) Å, indicative of a π-π inter-action.

Inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonding forms a one-dimensional motif parallel to the cell ab diagonal.

Project description:In the title compound, [Fe(2)Zn(C(5)H(5))(2)(C(8)H(9)N(3)S)(2)]·CH(3)OH, the dihedral angles between the substituted and unsubstituted cyclo-penta-dienyl rings are 89.34 (8) and 85.73 (9)°, respectively. The two Zn/S/C/N/N five-membered rings adopt envelope conformations, with the Zn(II) atom at the flap. Each methanol solvent mol-ecule is linked to three ferrocene groups via inter-molecular O-H⋯N, N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by C-H⋯π inter-actions.
