The Bi(III) coordination polyhedron is a distorted octa-hedron. There are four short terminal Bi-Cl bonds [2.5037 (10)-2.6911 (7) Å] and two longer bridging bonds [2.8834 (8) and 3.0687 (9) Å] in each octa-hedron. Two sets of chloride ions and water mol-ecules are disordered over the same sites with site occupancies of 1/3 and 2/3, respectively. Anions, cations and water mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O, O-H⋯Cl and N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional framework. There are also π-π stacking inter-actions between quinoline ring systems [centroid-centroid distance = 3.575 (1) Å].

The 2,9-dimethyl-4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthrolinium ring is oriented at a dihedral angle of 44.2 (1)° with respect to the planar phenyl ring systems. The Au(III) atom has a square-planar environment defined by four Cl atoms. The crystal structure is stabilized by C-H⋯π and Au⋯π ring-metal (3.551 Å) inter-actions. In the crystal structure, the mol-ecules stack along the c axis via N-H⋯N hydrogen-bond inter-actions.

Project description:The title organic-inorganic salt, (C(7)H(11)N(2))(2)[LaCl(H(2)O)(8)]Cl(4)·3H(2)O, consists of two 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium and one [La(H(2)O)(8)Cl](2+) cations, four chloride anions and three solvent water mol-ecules. In the crystal, the various units are connected by N-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯Cl, O-H⋯O and N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a network of alternating organic and inorganic layers. The 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations stack along the c axis, while the inorganic layers lie parallel to the ac plane. The chloride anions are located between these entities, forming hydrogen bonds with the NH atom of the pyridinium ions and the water mol-ecules. There are also C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds present involving one of the 4-(dimethyl-amino)-pyridinium cations, resulting in the formation of a three-dimensional supra-molecular architecture.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title hybrid compound, (C9H8N)[FeCl4]Cl, comprises a tetra-hedral tetra-chlorido-ferrate(III) anion, [FeCl4](-), a Cl(-) anion and two quinolinium cations. There are N-H⋯Cl hydrogen-bonding inter-actions between the protonated N atoms of the quinolinium cations and the chloride anion, which together with π-π stacking between adjacent quinolinium rings [centroid-to-centroid distances between C6 and C5N rings in adjacent stacked quinolinium cations of 3.609 (2) and 3.802 (2) Å] serve to hold the structure together.

Project description:In the anion of the title compound, (C(14)H(11)N(4))[AuCl(4)], the Au(III) atom has an almost perfect square-planar coordination. In the crystal structure, an intra-molecular N-H⋯N and intermolecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds are observed. In addition, there is also a ring-metal inter-action between the pyrazine ring and the Au(III) atom; the distance between the centroid of the pyrazine ring and the Au(III) atom is 3.628 (2) Å.
