ABSTRACT: In the title complex, [PtI(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], the Pt(2+) ion is four-coordinated in a slightly distorted square-planar environment by two N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two iodide ions. The nearly planar mol-ecules, with a maximum deviation of 0.170 (3) Å from the least-squares plane, are stacked in columns along the c axis with a Pt⋯Pt distance of 4.8510 (6) Å. In the column, π-π inter-actions between adjacent six-membered rings are present, the shortest centroid-centroid distance being 3.703 (5) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Pt(CH(3)CN)(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))](ClO(4))(2), contains one half of a cationic Pt(II) complex and pair of half perchlorate anions, one of which is disordered over two sites in a 0.53 (3):0.47 (3) ratio. The complex and anions are disposed about a crystallographic mirror plane parallel to the ac plane passing through the Pt and Cl atoms. In the complex, the Pt(II) ion lies in a distorted square-planar environment defined by four N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and two distinct acetonitrile mol-ecules. The component ions inter-act by means of inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The Hg(II) atom in the title complex, [HgI(2)(C(12)H(6)N(2)O(2))], is tetra-hedrally coordinated by the N atoms of the chelating 1,10-phenanthroline-5,6-dione ligand and two I atoms. The range of tetra-hedral angles is broad, viz. 68.94?(17)° for the chelate angle to a wide 132.627?(15)° for the I-Hg-I angle. The ligand mol-ecule is non-planar with the O atoms lying 0.422?(5) and -0.325?(5)?Å out of the plane through the remaining atoms [r.m.s. deviation = 0.068?Å]. Mol-ecules are consolidated in the crystal packing by C-H?O inter-actions.

Project description:In the title complex, [PtCl(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·H(2)O, the Pt(4+) ion is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral environment by two N atoms of a 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and by four Cl atoms. As a result of the different trans effects of the N and Cl atoms, the Pt-Cl bonds trans to the N atom are slightly shorter than those trans to the Cl atom. The compound displays inter-molecular π-π inter-actions between the six-membered rings, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.834 Å. There are also weak intra-molecular C-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds. According to the IR spectrum, solvent water was present in the crystal, but owing to the high thermal motion of the uncoordinated O atom, the H atoms could not be detected.

Project description:The title compound, [CdBr(2)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)], synthesized by the hydro-thermal reaction of Cd(CH(3)COO)(2)·2H(2)O with NaBr and 1,10-phenanthroline, has the Cd(II) cation coordinated by two Br(-) anions and four N atoms from two 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. Project description:The title complex salt, [CuCl(C(12)H(8)N(2))(2)][Tb(NO(3))(4)(C(12)H(8)N(2))], consists of discrete [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cations and [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anions (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline). The [CuCl(phen))(2)](+) cation contains a five-coordinate Cu(2+) ion, ligated by two bidentate phen ligands and one Cl(-) ion, exhibiting a distorted CuN(4)Cl trigonal-bipyramidal geometry. In the [Tb(NO(3))(4)(phen)](-) anion, the Tb(3+) ion is coordinated by one chelating phen ligand and four chelating nitrates, forming a distorted TbN(2)O(8) bicapped dodeca-hedral configuration. The anions and cations are assembled into a three-dimensional network by weak C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. There is also a significant π-π stacking inter-action, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.635 (2) Å.
