ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(9)H(12)N(4)O, crystallizes with two independent mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H?O and N-H?N hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules into paired ribbons propagated in [100]. The crystal studied was a twin (twin law 00/00/001) with a minor component of 25%.

The ethyl-idene-thio-carbonohydrazide fragment is planar, with an r.m.s. deviation of 0.0347?(2)?Å from the mean plane of its eight non-H atoms, and makes dihedral angles of 21.78?(1) and 19.97?(1)° with respect to the two Cp rings. The mol-ecule adopts a trans geometry about the C=N double bond. In the crystal, N-H?(N/S) and C-H?S inter-actions stack the mol-ecules in an inverse fashion along the b axis.

Project description:The title dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) solvate, C(17)H(18)N(4)O(3)·C(2)H(6)OS, shows the disubstituted urea derivative to adopt an almost planar geometry (r.m.s. deviation for non-H atoms = 0.132?Å); the mol-ecule has non-crystallographic twofold mol-ecular symmetry. This conformation is stabilized by two intra-molecular O-H?N hydrogen bonds. The components of the crystal are connected by N-H?O hydrogen bonds, whereby both amine H atoms are connected to a DMSO O atom, and C-H?O contacts involving the DMSO H and urea carbonyl atoms, forming a supra-molecular chain along the c axis. The chains associate via C-H?? inter-actions.

Project description:The title compound, C15H15N, represents an E isomer. The mol-ecule exhibits a minor [9.1 (2)%] disorder with methyl-benzyl-idene and benzyl groups inter-changing their positions. The C=N bond length is 1.292 (2) Å. The mol-ecular geometry is essentially planar, with the maximal twist of 8.5 (3)° for the benzyl group. The herringbone packing arrangement does not exhibit any π-stacking inter-actions.
