Project description:In the title compound, [CuCl2(C7H7NO2)2], the square-planar-coordinated Cu(II) ion lies on a centre of symmetry and is bonded to two monodentate methyl-isonicotinate ligands through their N atoms and by two chloride ligands. The mol-ecules pack in a herringbone pattern. Perpendicular to [100] there are weak inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O contacts. Along [100] there are infinite chains of edge-sharing octa-hedra linked through the chlorido ligands.

Flunarizinium isonicotinate.

Project description:In the cation of the title salt {systematic name: 4-[bis-(4-fluoro-phen-yl)meth-yl]-1-[(2E)-3-phenyl-prop-2-en-1-yl]piperazin-1-ium pyridine-4-carboxyl-ate}, C26H27F2N2 (+)·C6H4NO2 (-), the piperazine ring is in a slightly distorted chair conformation. The dihedral angle between the mean planes of the fluoro-substituted benzene rings is 81.9 (1)° and these benzene rings form dihedral angles of 6.5 (1) and 87.8 (1)° with the phenyl ring. In the crystal, a single N-H⋯O hydrogen bond links the cation and the anion. In addition, weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions involving one of the fluoro-substituted benzene rings and the phenyl ring, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.700 (7) Å, link mol-ecules along [100].

The extended structure displays O-H⋯O hydrogen bonding, with Me3PO mol-ecules as acceptors and water mol-ecules acting as donors and acceptors of hydrogen bonds, forming hydrogen-bonded layers, which propagate in the ac plane.

Molecular chains of coordinated dimolybdenum isonicotinate paddlewheel clusters.

Project description:A growing focus on the use of coordination polymers for active device applications motivates the search for candidate materials with integrated and optimized charge transport modes. We show herein the synthesis of a linear coordination polymer comprised of Mo2(INA)4 (INA = isonicotinate) metal-organic clusters. Single-crystal X-ray structure determination shows that this cluster crystallizes into one-dimensional molecular chains, whose INA-linked Mo2 cores engage in alternate axial and equatorial binding motifs along the chain axis. Electron paramagnetic resonance spectra, absorption spectra, and density functional theory calculations show that the aforementioned linear coordination environment significantly modifies the electronic structure of the clusters. This work expands the synthetic foundation for assembly of coordination polymers with tailorable dimensionalities and charge transport properties.

3-Benzyl-5-methyl-1,2-benzoxazole 2-oxide.

Project description:In the title compound, C(15)H(13)NO(2), the isoxazole unit and the attached benzene ring are almost coplanar, making a dihedral angle of 1.42 (8)°. The benzyl ring is inclined to the isoxazole ring by 74.19 (8)° and is in a +sc conformation with respect to the benzisoxazole unit. In the crystal, C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the mol-ecules, forming zigzag chains propagating along the b axis. There are also π-π inter-actions present involving the isoxazole and benzyl rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.5209 (10) Å], and C-H⋯π inter-actions involving the benzene ring of the benzoisoxazole unit and the methyl-ene bridging group.

Project description:Mol-ecules of the title compound, C(22)H(24)N(2)O(2)S(2), lie across centres of inversion. The two thio-pyridine N-oxide groups adopt a stepped trans configuration with respect to the benzene ring, by virtue of the symmetry. The oxopyridinium ring forms a dihedral angle of 79.9 (2)° with the benzene ring. The crystal structure is stabilized by a strong π-π inter-action between the pyridinium rings of adjacent mol-ecules [ring centroid-centroid distance = 3.464 (3) Å].

Oxide modified aluminum for removal of methyl orange and methyl blue in aqueous solution.

Project description:In this work, pristine aluminum (Al) powder was soaked in deionized water for a time period and then it was dried and heat-treated at 400 °C such that a layer of fine Al2O3 grains covered the Al particle surfaces, forming oxide modified Al powder (OM-Al). It was found that OM-Al greatly enhanced the efficiency in removing methyl orange (M-orange) and methyl blue (M-blue) in aqueous solution. The time to completely degrade M-orange and M-blue by OM-Al is about one third of that by pristine Al powder, and decreases with increasing dosage of OM-Al. The enhancement in dye removal rate by oxide modification is much better than that with ultrasonic assistance, especially for M-blue. LC/MS spectrum analyses revealed that large dye molecules are broken into small biodegradable organic molecules after reaction with OM-Al. It is deduced that the promotion of fine Al2O3 on the hydration process of Al surface passive oxide film is the main mechanism responsible for the enhancement of dye removal by OM-Al. Furthermore, OM-Al has a good recyclability and 80% of M-orange and M-blue can be removed even when it was reused for up to three cycles. These results indicate that oxide modification is an effective way to activate Al for the removal of organic dyes.

The crystal packing is further stabilized by C-H⋯π, and π-π inter-actions with a distance of 3.783 (3) Å between the centroids of the benzene rings of the benzotriazole system.

Redetermination of 2-methyl-4-nitro-pyridine N-oxide.

Project description:An improved crystal structure of the title compound, C6H6N2O3, is reported. The structure, previously solved [Li et al. (1987 ▶). Jiegou Huaxue (Chin. J. Struct. Chem.), 6, 20-24] in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pca21 and refined to R = 0.067, has been solved in the ortho-rhom-bic space group Pbcm with data of enhanced quality, giving an improved structure (R = 0.0485). The mol-ecule adopts a planar conformation with all atoms lying on a mirror plane. The crystal structure is composed of mol-ecular sheets extending parallel to the ab plane and connected via C-H⋯O contacts involving ring H atoms and O atoms of the N-oxide and nitro groups, while van der Waals forces consolidate the stacking of the layers.
