N-(3,5-Dimethyl-phen-yl)-2-methyl-benzamide.

ABSTRACT: In the mol-ecular structure of the title compound, C(16)H(17)NO, the amide group is twisted by 41.8 (2) and 29.0 (2)° out of the planes of the 2-methyl-phenyl and 3,5-dimethyl-phenyl rings, respectively. The two aromatic rings make a dihedral angle of 69.5 (1)°. In the crystal, inter-molecular N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect the mol-ecules into C(4) chains running along the c axis.
