ABSTRACT: 12-Crown-4 ether (12C4) and LiClO(4) combine to form the ionic title compound, [Li(2)(C(8)H(16)O(4))(3)](ClO(4))(2), which is com-posed of discrete Li/12C4 cations and perchlorate anions. In the [Li(2)(12C4)(3)](2+) cation there are two peripheral 12C4 ligands, which each form four Li-O bonds with only one Li(+) atom. Additionally there is a central 12C4 in which diagonal O atoms form one Li-O bond each with both Li(+) atoms. Therefore each Li(+) atom is penta-coordinated in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, forming four longer bonds to the O atoms on the peripheral 12C4 and one shorter bond to an O atom of the central 12C4. The cation occupies a crystallographic inversion centre located at the center of the ring of the central 12C4 ligand. The Li(+) atom lies above the cavity of the peripheral 12C4 by 0.815 (2) Å because it is too large to fit in the cavity.

Project description:In the title compound, [Li(C(8)H(16)O(4))(CD(3)CN)]ClO(4), the Li atom is penta-coordinate. The O atoms of the 12-crown-4 ether form the basal plane, whereas the N atom of the trideutero-aceto-nitrile occupies the apical position. The Li(+) atom is displaced by 0.794 (6) Å toward the apical position from the plane formed by the O atoms because the Li(+) atom is too large to fit in the cavity of the 12-crown-4 ether, resulting in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry about the Li(+) atom.

Project description:The cationic ZnII part of aqua-(1,4,7,10-tetra-aza-cyclo-dodeca-ne)zinc(II) bis-(perchlorate), [Zn(C8H20N4)(H2O)](ClO4)2, exhibits a slightly distorted square-pyramidal coordination environment with a water mol-ecule in the apical position. In the crystal, the macrocyclic ring alternates between two conformations with equal occupancies. Two of the three perchlorate anions are situated about a twofold rotation axis, and one of them shows disorder of the O atoms with occupancies of 0.62 (7) and 0.38 (7). In the crystal, the complexes are connected by inter-molecular hydrogen bonding via the perchlorate anions.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Cd2Na2(N3)2(C44H28N4)2(C12H24O6)2], consists of one half of the dimeric complex; the tetra-nuclear mol-ecule lies about an inversion centre. The Cd(II) atom is coordinated by the four pyrrole N atoms of the 5,10,15,20-tetra-phenyl-porphyrinate ligand and one N atom of the axial azide ligand in a square-pyramidal geometry. The azide group is also linked to the Na(I) atom, which is surrounded by one 18-crown-6 molecule and additionally bonded to a second 18-crown-6 molecule trans to the azide group. The porphyrin core exhibits a major doming distortion (∼40%) and the crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯π inter-actions. The mol-ecular structure features weak intra-molecular hydrogen bonds: two O-H⋯O inter-actions within the 18-crown-6 mol-ecule and one C-H(18-crown-6)⋯N(azido) contact.

Project description:The reaction of CdCl(2), 18-crown-6 and KI in water yields the title coordination polymer, [{K(C(12)H(24)O(6))}(2)Cd(2)I(6)](n). The potassium ion lies approximately in the plane of the crown ether, coordinated by all six crown ether O atoms and also by an iodide anion bound to a cadmium atom. A C atom of the crown ether is disordered over two positions with site occupancies of 0.77 (2) and 0.23 (2). Two K(18-crown-6)(+) units are linked by inversion symmetry, forming a [bis-(μ(2)-18-crown-6)dipottasium] system with approximately square-planar K(2)O(2) units. Inversion symmetry also generates the Cd(2)I(6) fragment and the polymeric system is extended along the c axis by the formation of K-I-Cd bridges.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Tb(2)(C(3)H(7)NO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(8)](ClO(4))(6), contains a dinuclear cation and six perchlorate anions, one of which is disordered. In the cation, the four l-alanine mol-ecules are present in their zwitterionic form and bridge two Tb(3+) ions through their carboxyl-ate O atoms. Each Tb atom is also coordinated by four water mol-ecules in a square-anti-prismatic geometry. Project description:The title tetra-nuclear Cu(II) complex, [Cu(4)(C(12)H(12)N(2)O(2))(4)(CH(3)O)(4)(ClO(4))(2)](ClO(4))(2), is located around an inversion center. Each Cu(II) atom is coordinated by two cis-O atoms from two bridging methano-late anions and two cis-N atoms from two bridging 1,4-bis-(4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl)benzene (L) ligands in the basal plane, and is further coordinated by one O atom of the bridging perchlorate anion, forming a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. The Cu⋯Cu separations in the recta-ngular core are 2.9878 (11) and 6.974 (1) Å. In the asymmetric unit, there are two L ligands with a syn conformation. In one L ligand, the dihedral angles between the central benzene ring and the terminal 4,5-dihydro-1,3-oxazol-2-yl mean planes are 22.1 (4) and 33.1 (4)°, and in the other L ligand the corresponding dihedral angles are 29.3 (4) and 29.9 (4)°. The uncoordinated perchlorate anion is linked with the complex mol-ecules via weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Mo and Cu atoms acting as basic components are connected by an Mo-CN-Cu-NC-Mo- linkage to form a distorted diamond-like network. Additional hydrogen bonding between the N-H groups and the water molecules stabilizes this arrangement.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Li(4)(C(5)H(3)N(2)O(2))(2)(H(2)O)(5)]Cl(2), contains two Li(I) cations, one with a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal and the other with a distorted tetra-hedral coordination geometry. Two symmetry-related asymmetric units constitute a building block of the structure, in which both ligand carboxyl-ate O atoms are bidentate and bridge the metal ions, forming a divalent cation. Charge balance is maintained by two chloride anions. The building blocks, bridged by Li(I) cations, form cationic ribbons with chloride anions in the space between them. The ribbons propagate in [010] and are held together by a network of weak O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds which operate in the space between adjacent ribbons.

The Ga(III) atom, located on a twofold rotation axis, is coordinated by four trimethyl-silanolate ligands and has a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The Li(I) atom is four coordinated by one bridging Br atom located on an inversion centre, two trimethyl-silanolate ligands and one tetra-hydro-furane mol-ecule in a distorted tetra-hedral geometry. The polymeric chains extend along [001]. The tetra-hydro-furane mol-ecule is disordered over two positions with site-occupancy factors of 0.57 (2) and 0.43 (2).

Project description:The structure of the title compound, C8H16N4, which consists of four fused seven-membered rings, has been redetermined at 173 K. This redetermination corrects the orientation of two H atoms, which were located at unrealistic positions in the original room-temperature study [Murray-Rust (1974 ▶). J. Chem. Soc. Perkin Trans. 2, pp. 1136-1141]. The complete mol-ecule is generated by -42m symmetry, with one quarter of a mol-ecule [one N atom (site symmetry m), two C atoms (one with site symmetry m and the other with site symmetry 2) and two H atoms] in the asymmetric unit. No directional inter-actions beyond van der Waals contacts are apparent in the crystal structure.
