Poly[[diaqua-(μ(4)-l-tartrato)(μ(2)-l-tartrato)dizinc(II)] tetra-hydrate].

ABSTRACT: In the title compound, {[Zn(C(4)H(4)O(6))(H(2)O)]·2H(2)O}(n), the l-tartrate ligands adopt μ(4)- and μ(2)-coordination modes. The Zn(II) atom adopts an octa-hedral geometry and is chelated by two kinds of l-tartrate ligands through the hydr-oxy and carboxyl-ate groups and coordinated by one unchelating carboxyl-ate O atom and one water mol-ecule. In the crystal, the l-tartrate ligands link the Zn(II) atoms, forming a two-dimensional coordination layer; these layers are futher linked into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the two-dimensional coordin-ation layers and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules. The latter are equally disordered over two positions.

Project description:In the title compound, {[Mn(C(4)H(4)O(6))(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), the Mn(2+) ion is connected to three different tartrate anions and a water mol-ecule, resulting in a distorted MnO(6) octa-hedral geometry. There are two tartrate half-anions in the asymmetric unit, both of which are completed by crystallographic twofold rotation symmetry. The tartrate dianions bridge the Mn(2+) ions to form a wave-like infinite layer. A series of O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the layers into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title compound, {[Cd(C(4)H(4)O(6))]·0.167H(2)O}(n), adopts a three-dimensional network structure in which each Cd(II) ion is chelated by two pairs of carboxyl-ate and hydroxyl O atoms from two tartrate anions, and is additionally linked to two O atoms of two carboxyl-ate groups that are not involved in chelation. The asymmetric unit has four independent cadmium atoms, two of which lie on special positions of 2 site symmetry. The tartrate anions all lie on general positions. All hydroxyl groups are engaged in O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonds, one of which is also bifurcated. The non-coordinating water molecule is situated on a site with half-occupation.

The cation sits on a twofold axis and is six-coordinated in a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry; the polyhedra are linked into zigzag chains, which are further connected by N-H⋯O, O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds as well as π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance of 3.639 (2) Å], giving a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Fe(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(6)]·4H(2)O}(n), there are two types of coordination for the Fe(II) atoms. One Fe(II) atom is in a distorted octa-hedral N(2)O(4) environment, with two chelating rings from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and two O atoms from the water mol-ecules, while the other is in a distorted octa-hedral O(6) environment with two O atoms from the pyridine-dicarboxyl-ate ligands and four O atoms from the water mol-ecules. Both Fe(II) atoms lie on crystallographic centers of symmetry. The complex possesses an infinite chain structure running along the [101] direction. These chains are inter-connected by the uncoordinated water mol-ecules through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, {[Ni(C(4)H(2)O(4))(C(10)H(9)N(3))(H(2)O)(2)]·4H(2)O}(n), zigzag chains are built up from cis-[Ni(dpya)(H(2)O)(2)](2+) cations (dpya is di-2-pyridylamine) linked by bis-monodentate coordinated bridging fumarate ligands. The Ni(II) atom is coordinated by one chelating dpya ligand, two aqua ligands in trans positions and two monodentate fumarate ligands in cis positions in the form of a deformed octa-hedron. The water mol-ecules, O atoms of the fumarate carboxyl-ate groups and the amine group of the dpya ligand are involved in an extended network of intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Moreover, π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings of the dpya ligand contribute to the stability of the structure. Two of the five uncoordinated water molecules are half-occupied.

Project description:The title compouand {[Zn(C(4)H(4)O(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2))]·6H(2)O}(n), has a linear chain structure parallel to [100] with Zn(C(4)H(4)O(6))(C(12)H(8)N(2)) repeat units; the asymmetric unit consists of one Zn(2+) cation, one l-tartrate dianion, one 1,10-phenanthroline and six free water mol-ecules. The Zn atom is in a distorted octa-hedral ZnN(2)O(4) coordination environment. The crystal structure is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking of the phenanthroline units [centroid-centroid distances in the range 3.552 (2)-3.625 (2)Å] occurs between the chains. The title compound is isotypic with the Cu and Mn analogues.

Project description:In the structure of the title compound, [Co(4)(C(2)O(4))(PO(4))(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), there are layers composed of the phosphate anions and two independent Co(II) cations. These layers are parallel to (001) and are bridged by the oxalate anions that are situated in special positions on centres of symmetry. One independent Co atom has an octa-hedral coordination, while the second independent Co atom is coordinated in a trigonal-bipyramidal coordination that includes the water mol-ecule. The crystal packing is stabilized by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between the coordinated water mol-ecules and oxalate O atoms.
