A trinuclear cobalt-cerium complex: bis-(2,2'-bipyridine)-1?N,N';3?N,N'-hexa-?-methacrylato-1:2?O:O';2:3?O:O'-nitrato-2?O,O'-2-cerium(III)-1,3-dicobalt(II).

ABSTRACT: In the title trinuclear cobalt-cerium complex, [CeCo(2)(C(4)H(5)O(2))(6)(NO(3))(C(10)H(8)N(2))(2)], the Ce(III) and each of the two Co(II) ions are bridged by three bidentate methacrylate ligands. The Ce(III) center is coordinated by six O atoms from six methacrylate ligands and two O atoms from the nitrate anion in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. Each Co(II) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from three methacrylate ligands and two N atoms from a 2,2'-bipyridine ligand in a distorted trigonal-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, ?-? inter-actions between the aromatic rings [centroid-centroid distances of 3.816?(8) and 3.756?(8)?Å] link the mol-ecules into chains propagated in [01]. Weak inter-molecular C-H?O hydrogen bonds further stabilize the crystal packing.

The Tb(III) cation is coordinated by six O atoms from six methacrylate anions and two O atoms from a chelating nitrate anion in a distorted square-anti-prismatic geometry. Each Co(II) ion is coordinated by three O atoms from three methyl-acrylate anions and two N atoms of a 2,2'-bypiridine ligand in a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. In the crystal structure, π-π stacking between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.682 (8) and 3.760 (8) Å] is observed and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonding is also present.

Project description:In the tetranuclear centrosymmetric title compound, [Pb(4)(NO(3))(8)(C(11)H(10)N(2))(4)], irregular PbN(2)O(5) and PbN(2)O(4) coordination polyhedra occur. The hepta-coordinated lead(II) ion is bonded to two bidentate and one monodentate nitrate ion and one bidentate 6-methyl-2,2'-bipyridine (mbpy) ligand. The six-coordinate lead(II) ion is bonded to one bidentate and two monodentate nitrate anions and one mbpy ligand. In the crystal, bridging nitrate anions lead to infinite chains propagating in [111]. A number of C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds may stabilize the structure.

Project description:The hydro-thermal reaction of CoCl(2)·6H(2)O, 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) and K(3)[Fe(CN)(6)] in deionized water yielded the title cyanide-bridged trinuclear cluster, [Co(2)Fe(CN)(8)(C(12)H(8)N(2))(4)]·4H(2)O or [{Co(III)(phen)(CN)(4)}(2){Fe(II)(phen)(2)}]·4H(2)O, which contains two Co(III) centers and one Fe(II) center linked by cyanide bridges. The combination of coordinative bonds, O-H⋯N and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and π-π stacking inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.630 (2) Å] results in the stabilization of a supra-molecular structure. All uncoordinated water molecules are disordered. Thermogravimetric analysis reveals that the title complex loses the four crystal water mol-ecules at about 333 K, then the anhydrous phase loses no further mass up to about 573 K, above which decomposition occurs.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ni(2)Cd(C(17)H(16)N(2)O(2))(2)(C(2)H(3)O(2))(2)(C(3)H(7)NO)(2)], contains discrete centrosymmetric hetero-trinuclear mol-ecules in which Ni/Cd atom pairs are triply bridged via O atoms from the SALPD(2-) [N,N'-bis-(salicyl-idene)-1,3-propane-diaminate] and acetate ligands. The central Cd(II) ion is in a distorted octa-hedral coordination environment formed by four O atoms from two SALPD(2-) ligands in the equatorial plane and two O atoms of two symmetry-related acetate ligands in the axial positions. The symmetry-related Ni(II) ions are in slightly distorted octa-hedral environments, coordinated by two O and two N atoms from tetra-dendate SALPD(2-) ligands in the equatorial plane, while the axial positions are occupied by O atoms from a dimethyl-formamide and an acetate ligand. This results in the formation of three edge-shared octa-hedra in which the Ni⋯Cd distance is 3.1482 (15) Å. The crystal structure is stabilized by weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(2)(CO(3))(C(5)H(6)N(2))(8)(H(2)O)]Cl(2)·5H(2)O, one of the the Ni(II) ions is six-coordinated in a distorted octa-hedral geometry, with the equatorial plane defined by four pyridine N atoms from four amino-pyridine ligands, the axial positions being occupied by one water O and a carbonate O atom. The other Ni(II) ion is also six-coordinated, by four other pyridine N atoms from four other amino-pyridine ligands and two carbonate O atoms to complete a distorted octa-hedral geometry. In the crystal structure, mol-ecules are linked into an infinite three-dimensional network by O-H⋯O, N-H⋯Cl, N-H⋯O, O-H⋯N, C-H⋯O, C-H⋯N and C/N-H⋯π inter-actions involving the pyridine rings.

Project description:In the crystal structure of the title compound, [Zn(3)(NCSe)(4)(OH)(CN)(C(4)H(4)N(2))(4)](n) one of the two crystallograph-ically independent zinc(II) cations is coordinated by two terminal N-bonded seleno-cyanato anions and two N atoms of two symmetry-related pyridazine ligands in a trigonal-bipyramidal geometry, while the other zinc(II) cation is coordinated by one terminal N-bonded seleno-cyanato anion, one μ-1,2-cyanido anion and three N atoms of three crystallographically independent pyridazine ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The zinc(II) atoms are further connected via a μ(3)-hydroxido anion into trinuclear building blocks. The formula unit consists of three zinc cations, four seleno-cyanato anions, one μ(3)-hydroxido anion, four pyridazine mol-ecules as well as one cyanido anion. The asymmetric unit contains half of a formula unit. One of the zinc atoms, two seleno-cyanato anions, two pyridazine ligands and the μ(3)-hydroxido anion are located on a crystallographic mirror plane, whereas the cyanido anion is located on a twofold rotation axis. Therefore, this anion is disordered due to symmetry. The cyanido anions connect the metal centres into polymeric zigzag chains propagating along the a axis.

The O atom of one of the carboxyl-ate -CO(2) groups binds to the water-coordinated Cu atom, whose coordination polyhedron is an elongated octa-hedron. Adjacent tetra-nuclear mol-ecules are linked through the coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into a three-dimensional network.
