Catena-Poly[sodium [[tris(3-methyl-pyridine-2-carboxylato)europate(III)]-μ-3-methylpyridine-2-carboxylato] trihydrate].

ABSTRACT: In the title structure, {Na[Eu(C(7)H(6)NO(2))(4)]·3H(2)O}(n), the Eu(III) atom is nine-coordin-ated within a slightly distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic coordination geometry defined by five carboxyl-ate-O atoms and four pyridine-N atoms. One of the carboxyl-ate ligands bridges the Eu cations, forming a one-dimensional coordination polymer along the b axis. The Eu-O bond distances lie within the range 2.362 (4)-2.461 (4) Å. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the polymers into a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The title complex, [Tb(2)(C(6)H(4)NO(2))(6)(H(2)O)(4)](n), was isolated under hydro-thermal conditions using the ligand pyridine-4-carb-oxy-lic acid (HL) and Tb(2)O(3). The deprotonated L(2-) ligands adopt bridging coordination modes. The central Tb(III) atom is bridged by L(2-) ligands, forming a polymeric chain parallel to the a axis. Supra-molecular O-H⋯N inter-actions link the chains, building up a layer parallel to (010). O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds also occur. Two of the pyridine rings are disordered by rotation around the central C-N direction with occupancy ratios of 0.53 (1):0.47 (1).

Project description:In the title compound, {[Ag(3)(C(10)H(8)N(2))(3)](ClO(4))(3)·2H(2)O}(n), one of the Ag(I) ions, one of the 4,4'-bipyridine (bipy) ligands and one of the perchlorate anions are each situated on a twofold rotation axis. Each Ag(I) ion is coordinated by two N atoms from two bridging bipy ligands, forming chains along [101]. π-π inter-actions between the pyridine rings [centroid-centroid distances = 3.638 (8) and 3.688 (8) Å] connect the chains. Inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the uncoord-inated water mol-ecules and the perchlorate anions.

Project description:In the title complex, [Cu(2)(CN)(2)(C(6)H(7)N)](n), there are two copper atoms with different coordination environments. One Cu atom (Cu1) is linked to the two cyanide ligands, one N atom from a pyridine ring while the other (Cu2) is coordinated by the two cyanide ligands in a slightly distorted tetra-hedral geometry and linked to Cu1, forming a triangular coordination environment. The Cu atoms are bridged by bidentate cyanide ligands, forming an infinite Cu-CN chain. One cyanide ligand is equally disordered over two sets of sites, exchanging C and N atoms coordinated to both metal atoms. However, one cyanide group is not disordered and it coordinates to Cu1 via the N atom whereas its C-atom counterpart coordinates Cu2. The 3-methyl-pyridine (3MP) ligand coordinates through the N atom to Cu1 as a terminal ligand, which originates from decyanation of 3-pyridyl-acetonitrile under hydro-thermal conditions. Adjacent Cu-CN chains are inter-connected through Cu⋯Cu inter-actions [2.8364 (10) Å], forming a three-dimensional framework.

Project description:There are three Ag(I) cations, three p-toluene-sulfonate (pts) anions, three hexa-methyl-ene-tetra-mine (hmt) mol-ecules and four water mol-ecules in the asymmetric unit of the title coordination polymer, {[Ag(3)(C(7)H(7)O(3)S)(3)(C(6)H(12)N(4))(3)(H(2)O)]·3H(2)O}(n). Two of the pts anions show positional disorder of their O atoms in 0.60:0.40 and 0.50:0.50 ratios. The Ag(I) ion is coordinated by three hmt mol-ecules in an approximate trigonal-planar AgN(3) arrangement. In each case, longer Ag-O bonds to a water mol-ecule and a pts anion complete a distorted trigonal-bipyramidal AgN(3)O(2) geometry for the metal ion. In the crystal, the bridging hmt mol-ecules and pts ions generate a wave-like layer parallel to (001) and O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions consolidate the packing.

Project description:The environment of the Co(II) ion in the title compound, [Co(SO(4))(C(6)H(7)N)(2)(H(2)O)(2)](n), exhibits an octa-hedral configuration with the two 3-methyl-pyridine ligands lying in cis positions with respect to each other and trans to the two coordinated water mol-ecules. The axial positions are occupied by O atoms of the sulfate ions. Co and S atoms occupy special positions (twofold axis, Wyckoff position 4c). Neighboring Co(II) ions are covalently connected with each other through the sulfate ions, thus creating infinite polymeric chains that run along the c axis. The water mol-ecules are connected with neighboring sulfate ions through strong O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Intra-molecular hydrogen bonds parallel to the propagation direction of the chains stabilize the polymeric chains, and inter-molecular hydrogen bonds between chains connect neighboring chains with each other, thus leading to polymeric double chains.
