ABSTRACT: In the crystal of the title mol-ecular salt, C(5)H(8)N(3) (+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), the diamino-pyridine cation and the phthalate anion are linked by a pair of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Within the phthalate anion, an almost symmetrical O-H⋯O hydrogen bond is observed. The ion pairs are linked by further N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating a two-dimensional network lying parallel to (10).

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, C(5)H(8)N(3) (+)·C(5)H(7)O(4) (-), the 2,3-diamino-pyridine mol-ecule is protonated at the pyridine N atom. The cation is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.015 (2) Å, and the anion adopts an extended conformation. In the crystal, the hydrogen glutarate (4-carb-oxy-butano-ate) anions are self-assembled through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming chains. The cations are connected to the anion chains via N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a three-dimensional network. The crystal structure also features aromatic π-π inter-actions between the pyridinium cations, with a centroid-centroid distance of 3.4464 (10) Å.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title proton-transfer compound, C(5)H(8)N(3) (+)·C(7)H(4)NO(4) (-), consists of one mono-deprotonated pyridine-2,6-dicarb-oxy-lic acid as anion and one protonated 2,3-diamino-pyridine as cation. The crystal packing shows extensive O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and N-H⋯N hydrogen bonds. Thre are also several π-π inter-actions between the anions and also between the cations [centriod-centroid distances = 3.6634 (7), 3.7269 (7), 3.6705 (7) and 3.4164 (7) Å].

Project description:In the title salt, C(6)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), the hydrogen phthalate anion is essentially planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.011 (2) Å. In the crystal structure, the protonated N atom of the pyridine ring and the 2-amino group of the cation are hydrogen bonded to the carboxyl-ate O atoms of the anion via a pair of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming an R(2) (2)(8) ring motif. In the hydrogen phthalate anion, there is a very strong, almost symmetric, intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond, generating an S(7) motif [O⋯O = 2.382 (3) Å]. Furthermore, these two molecular motif rings are connected by a bifurcated N-H⋯(O,O) hydrogen-bonded motif R(1) (2)(4), forming a supra-molecular ribbon along the b axis. The crystal structure is further stabilized by π-π inter-actions between the cations and anions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6999 (10) Å].

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C(5)H(6)BrN(2) (+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), consists of two crystallographically independent 2-amino-5-bromo-pyridinium cations (A and B) and two 2-carb-oxy-benzoate anions (A and B). Each 2-amino-5-bromo-pyridinium cation is approximately planar, with a maximum deviation of 0.047 (1) Å in cation A and 0.027 (1) Å in cation B. The 2-amino-5-bromo-pyridinium unit in cation A is inclined at dihedral angles of 4.9 (3) and 2.2 (3)° with the phenyl rings of the A and B 2-carb-oxy-benzoate anions, respectively. The corresponding angles for cation B are 3.0 (3) and 5.6 (3)°. The mol-ecular structure is stabilized by an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond,which generates an S(7) ring motif. The cations and anions are linked via inter-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, generating R(2) (2)(8) ring motifs. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked into wave-like chains along [001] via adjacent ring motifs. Short inter-molecular distances between the phenyl and pyridine rings [3.613 (4) and 3.641 (4) Å] indicate the existence of π-π inter-actions. The crystal structure is a non-merohedral twin with a contribution of 0.271 (3) of the minor component.

Project description:In the title mol-ecular salt, C(6)H(9)N(2) (+)·C(8)H(5)O(4) (-), an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond occurs within the anion, thereby generating an S(7) ring, which may correlate with the fact that both the carb-oxy-lic acid and carboxyl-ate groups are almost coplanar with their attached rings [dihedral angles = 2.9 (3) and 5.2 (3)°, respectively]. In the crystal, each cation is linked to its adjacent anion by two N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds; the dihedral angle between the pyridine and benzene rings is 2.22 (10)°. The carboxyl-ate group of the benzoate anion is twisted away from the attached ring by 10.91 (9)°. In the crystal structure, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between 2,3-diamino-pyridinium cations and benzoate anions, and π-π inter-actions between the pyridinium rings [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6467 (9) Å] form a two-dimensional network parallel to (001). In the network, N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds form R(2) (2)(8) and R(2) (1)(7) ring motifs.

3-Carb-oxy-5-(pyridinium-4-yl)benzoate: a redetermination.

Project description:The title compound, C(13)H(9)NO(4), crystallizes in a zwitterionic form with the pyridine N atom protonated and the carboxyl OH group deprotonated. The benzene and pyridinium rings are inclined with a dihedral angle of 31.42 (14)° between them. A previous report of this stucture claims, we believe incorrectly, that neither of the carboxyl-ate groups is deprotonated [Zhang et al. (2010 ▶). Acta Cryst. E66, o2928-o2928]. In the crystal, inter-molecular O-H⋯O, N-H⋯O and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding inter-actions link adjacent mol-ecules into a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the structure of the 1:1 proton-transfer compound of 4-methyl-pyridine (γ-picoline) with 4,5-dichloro-phthalic acid, C(6)H(8)N(+)·C(8)H(3)Cl(2)O(4) (-)·H(2)O, determined at 200 K, the 4,5-dichloro-phthalate anions are bridged by the water mol-ecule through O-H⋯O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bonds, giving zigzag chains which extend along the c-axis direction. The 4-methyl-pyridinium cations are linked to the chains through single N-H⋯O(water) hydrogen bonds and occupy the voids within the chains in the one-dimensional structure. The anions have the common 'planar' conformation with a short intra-molecular O-H⋯O(carbox-yl) hydrogen bond.

Tetra-kis(2,6-diamino-pyridinium) diphthalate 2,6-diamino-pyridine.

Project description:In the title compound, 4C(5)H(8)N(3) (+)·2C(8)H(4)O(4) (2-)·C(5)H(7)N(3), the asymmetric unit consists of two protonated diamino-pyridine cations, one phthalate anion and one half of a diamino-pyridine mol-ecule, which has twofold rotation symmetry and is disordered over two positions with a site-occupancy ratio of 0.534 (3):0.466 (3). In the disordered structure, both pyridine rings are essentially planar, with maximum deviations of 0.011 (2) and 0.006 (2) Å, and these two rings are inclined to one another at a dihedral angle of 79.86 (10)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds link the ions and mol-ecules into a three-dimensional network. The structure is further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions.
