ABSTRACT: The asymmetric unit of the title salt, [Zn(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](C(10)H(6)NO(2)Se)Cl·10H(2)O, contains a [Zn(phen)(3)](2+) cation (phen is 1,10-phenanthroline), uncoordinated chloride and 2-phenyl-4-selenazole-5-carboxyl-ate anions and ten uncoord-in-ated water mol-ecules. The central Zn(II) ion is six-coordinated by six N atoms from three phen ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. An extensive O-H?O, O-H?N and O-H?Cl hydrogen-bonding network stabilizes the crystal structure.

Project description:In the title compound, [Ni(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](C(10)H(5)O(8))(2)·H(2)O, the Ni(II) cation is coordinated by six N atoms of the three bidentate chelating 1,10-phenanthroline ligands in a slightly distorted octa-hedral coordination geometry. The Ni-N bond lengths range from 2.074 (2) to 2.094 (2) Å. The dihedral angles between the three chelating NCCN groups to each other are 85.71 (3), 73.75 (2) and 85.71 (3)°, respectively. The Ni cation, the phenyl ring of the 1,10-phenanthroline ligand and the lattice water molecule are located on special positions (site symmetry 2). In the crystal, the uncoordinated 2,4,5-tricarb-oxy-benzeno-ate anions join with each other through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional hydrogen-bonded layer structure along the bc plane. The layers are further linked via additional O-H⋯O inter-actions between water and carboxyl groups, resulting in a three-dimensional supra-molecular network.

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](C(7)H(4)BrO(2))(2)·6.5H(2)O, the Zn(II) atom is coordinated by six N atoms from three 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) mol-ecules in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The chelating phen ligands exhibit nearly perfect coplanarity (r.m.s. deviations of 0.048, 0.039 and 0.061 Å). The mean inter-planar distances of 3.51 (2) and 3.54 (4) Å between adjacent phen ligands indicate π-π stacking inter-actions, which connect the complex cations into chains along [101]. The 4-bromo-benzoate anions and the uncoordinated water mol-ecules, parts of which are not fully occupied, are linked by O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. Two carboxyl-ate O atoms and one Br atom in the 4-bromo-benzoate anions are each disordered over two sites with occupancy factors of 0.60 and 0.40.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Zn(NCS)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))(2)][Zn(NCS)(3)(C(12)H(7)ClN(2))], contains two cations and two anions. In the cations, the Zn(II) ions have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments formed by four N atoms from two 2-chloro-1,10-phenanthroline (cphen) ligands and one N atom from a thio-cyanate ligand. The Zn(II) atoms in the complex anions also have distorted trigonal-bipyramidal environments, formed by two N atoms from a cphen ligand and three N atoms from three thio-cyanato ligands. The crystal packing exhibits π-π inter-actions between the rings of the cphen ligands [shortest centroid-centroid distance = 3.586 (5) Å] and short inter-molecular S⋯Cl [3.395 (5) Å] and S⋯S [3.440 (4) Å] contacts.

The cations and anions are linked by O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds across a center of inversion, forming a hydrogen-bonded dimeric association. The dimethyl-formamide solvent mol-ecule is disordered over two orientations in a 0.56 (1):0.44 (1) ratio.

Project description:The title compound, [Fe(C(12)H(8)N(2))(3)](3)[FeW(12)O(40)]·2H(2)O, was prepared under hydro-thermal conditions. The discrete Keggin-type [FeW(12)O(40)](6-) heteropolyoxoanion has threefold symmetry, with the Fe(II) atom located on the threefold rotation axis. The central FeO(4) tetra-hedron in the anion shares its O atoms with four W(3)O(13) trinuclear units, each of which is made up of three edge-shared WO(6) octa-hedral units. The Fe(II) atom in the complex cation, viz [Fe(phen)(3)](2+) (phen is 1,10-phen-anthroline), shows a slightly distorted octa-hedral geometry defined by six N atoms from three phen ligands. The polyoxoanions pack together with the cations, with the disordered water mol-ecules located in voids; the site occupancy factor for each water O atom is 0.33.
