ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(15)H(18)O(3), was isolated from Lacta-rius piperatus (Fr.) S. F. Gary collected from the Kunming area in Yunnan province, China. The central cyclo-hexyl ring adopts a chair conformation, while the furan-one ring is close to planar (r.m.s. deviation = 0.0174 Å). The remaining methyl-ene cyclo-hexene ring has a flattened chair conformation. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked via inter-molecular O-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds into zigzag chains along the a axis.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(18)O(3), was synthesized from 9α-hy-droxy-parthenolide (9α-hy-droxy-4,8-dimethyl-12-methylen-3,14-dioxa-tricyclo-[9.3.0.0(2,4)]tetra-dec-7-en-13-one), which was isolated from the chloro-form extract of the aerial parts of Anvillea radiata. The seven-membered ring of the title compound shows a chair conformation, while the five-membered rings exibit different conformations, viz a twisted one for the lactone ring and an envelope conformation for the other five-membered ring with the C atom closest to the hydroxy group forming the flap. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds connect mol-ecules into dimers that are inter-connected by C-H⋯O inter-actions, producing supramolecular chains along the b axis.

The trans-fused cyclo-hexane and γ-lactone rings of the α-santonin ring system adopt chair and envelope conformations, respectively, whereas the hexa-diene ring is approximately planar [maximum deviation = 0.029 (4) Å] and forms a dihedral angle of 62.30 (11)° with the benzene ring. An intra-molecular O-H⋯N hydrogen bond is observed.

Project description:The title compound, C(15)H(20)O(4), is a eudesmanolide isolated from the Chinese medicinal plant Carpesium tris-te Maxim. The mol-ecule contains three rings, viz. two fused six-membered rings in chair conformations and a five-membered ring in a flattened envelope conformation. In the crystal, two hy-droxy groups are involved in the formation of intra- and inter-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The H atoms in these groups are split, with site-occupation factors of 0.5. The inter-molecular hydrogen bonds link mol-ecules into chains propagating in [010].

Project description:In the title compound, alternatively called α-hy-droxy-γ-alkyl-idenebutenolide, C12H16O3, two independent mol-ecules (A and B) crystallize in the asymmetric unit in each of which the 5,6-di-hydro-benzo ring has an envelope conformation. The torsion angle along the butadiene chain in the γ-alkyl-idenebutenolide core is -177.9 (2)° for mol-ecule A and 179.9 (2)° for mol-ecule B. In the crystal, O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds between hy-droxyl and carbonyl groups of adjacent independent mol-ecules form dimers with R (2) 2(10) loops.
