ABSTRACT: The title compound, C(11)H(11)NO(3), was synthesized by the reaction of maleic andydride and phenyl-methanamine. The mol-ecular conformation is stabilized by by an intra-molecular O-H⋯O hydrogen bond. In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by inter-molecular N-H⋯O and C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming a chain along the b axis.
