ABSTRACT: The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cu(NO(3))(C(21)H(14)ClN(3))(H(2)O)]NO(3)·[Cu(NO(3))(2)(C(21)H(14)ClN(3))]·H(2)O, con-sists of two crystallographically independent Cu(II) complexes, in which each copper cation is penta-coordinated by three N atoms of the chelating ligand and two O atoms of nitrate anions or water mol-ecules. One of the coordinated nitrate anions is disordered over two set of sites in a 0.85:0.15 ratio.

The nitrate ion inter-acts with the copper center [Cu1⋯O3 = 2.579 (4) Å]. In the crystal, the cations, anions and water mol-ecules are linked by O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds.

Project description:The title complex, [CuCl(C(15)H(11)N(3))(H(2)O)]Cl·H(2)O, is composed of a monocation that possesses mirror symmetry. The Cu(II) atom has a distorted square-pyramidal geometry, being coordinated by the three N atoms of the terpyridine ligand and a Cl atom in the equatorial plane, and by a water mol-ecule O atom in the axial position. The charges are balanced by a chloride anion positionally disorded over two positions related by the mirror symmetry. The compound crystallizes as a monohydrate, with the water mol-ecule also being positionally disordered over two positions related by the mirror symmetry. In the crystal, the various components of the complex are linked via O-H⋯O and O-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds, forming a two-dimensional network in the ab plane. There are also a number of C-H⋯Cl and C-H⋯O inter-actions which stabilize the crystal structure.

Project description:The Pd(II) atom in the complex cation of the title compound, [PdCl(C(21)H(16)N(4))]Cl, is coordinated by three N atoms derived from the terpyridine ligand and a chloride ion, which define a distorted PdClN(3) square-planar coordination geometry. In the crystal, the presence of N-H⋯Cl hydrogen bonds involving the amino H atom and chloride anions link two cations and two anions into a four-ion aggregate via centrosymmetric eight-membered [⋯H-N-H⋯Cl](2) synthons. Layers of cations are inter-spersed with the chloride anions with stabilization provided by C-H⋯Cl inter-actions involving both Cl atoms, as well as π-π inter-actions [the closest inter-action of 3.489 (6) Å occurs between a chelate ring and a pyridyl residue].

Project description:The title complex, [Co(C(22)H(14)N(4))(2)]Cl(2), has been synthesized by a solvothermal reaction of the 4'-(4-cyano-phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand with CoCl(2)·6H(2)O. The cobalt(II) ion is six-coordinated by two tridentate ligands in a distorted octa-hedral geometry. The benzene rings form dihedral angles of 30.02?(7) and 30.26?(7)° with the mean planes of the terpyridine ring systems. The chloride anions are statistically disordered over two positions with refined site occupancies of 0.601?(2) and 0.399?(2).

Project description:In the title compound, [Zn(CH(3)COO)(2)(C(28)H(21)N(3)O)], the Zn(II) ion is in a trigonal-bipyramidal ZnN(3)O(2) coordination with a tridentate N-chelating 4'-[4-(benz-yloxy)phen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine ligand in the equatorial position and two acetate anions in the axial positions. The three pyridine rings are approximately coplanar, with a maximum deviation of 0.03 Å from the mean plane. The phen-oxy substituent makes a dihedral angle of 18.1 (2)° with the central pyridine ring. The benzyl group has a C-O-C-C torsion angle of 77.62 (8)° relative to the phen-oxy ring. Project description:The title compound, C(22)H(14)F(3)N(3), is a versatile tridentate N-donor ligand consisting of a terpyridyl (terpy) molecule substituted in the 4'-position by a phenyl group, itself substituted in an ortho-position by a bulky trifluoro-methyl group. The phenyl ring is twisted as a result of steric inter-actions involving the bulky trifluoro-methyl substituent. This is reflected in the dihedral angle between the mean plane through the C atoms of the phenyl ring and the terpyridyl unit being 69.2 (1)°. The crystal structure contains no short van der Waals contacts. However, the terpy units stack in a head-to-tail orientation perpendicular to the c axis. The structure is is loosely stabilized by π-π inter-actions between the terminal pyridine rings of adjacent mol-ecules along the stack. The perpendicular distance between the mean planes through the terpy moieties of adjacent mol-ecules is 3.4 (1) Å.

Project description:The title compound, C25H24N3O3P, was obtained by catalytic phospho-nation of 4'-(4-bromphen-yl)-2,2':6',2''-terpyridine. The terpyridine moiety is nearly planar, the dihedral angles between the central and the outer rings being 4.06 (9) and 5.39 (9)°. The N atoms in the two pyridine rings are oriented nearly anti-periplanar to that of the central ring. The benzene ring is rotated out of the plane of the central ring of the terpyridine unit by 34.65 (6)°.

Project description:In the title compound, C22H17N3O, the N atoms of the pyridine rings exhibit a typical trans-trans arrangement: the dihedral angles between the central pyridine ring and the peripheral rings are 22.24 (4) and 2.38 (4)°. In the crystal, pairwise C-H⋯N hydrogen bonds form inversion dimers described by an R 2 2(6) graph set descriptor, which further inter-act through C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions, creating a two-dimensional supra-molecular network propagating in the bc plane.
