ABSTRACT: In the title coordination polymer, {[Tm(C(7)H(2)NO(5))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n), the Tm(III) atom is eight-coordinated by a tridentate 4-oxidopyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate trianion, two monodentate anions and three water mol-ecules, forming a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic TmNO(7) coordination geometry. The anions bridge adjacent Tm(III) ions into double chains. Adjacent chains are further connected into sheets. O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving both coordinated and uncoordinated water mol-ecules generate a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework.

Project description:The title compound, {(C(4)H(12)N(2))[Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n) or {(pipzH(2))[Bi(2)(pydc)(4)(H(2)O)]·H(2)O}(n), where pydcH(2) is pyridine-2,6-dicarboxylic acid and pipz is piperazine, was obtained by reaction of Bi(NO(3))(3)·5H(2)O with (pipzH(2))(pydc-H)(2)·3H(2)O in a 1:2 molar ratio in aqueous solution. There are two independent Bi(III) atoms in the structure, one of which is eight-coordinate with a distorted bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry, and another which is nine-coordinate with a distorted tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The carboxyl-ate groups of the (pydc)(2-) ligands link dinuclear [Bi(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(4)(H(2)O)](2-) units into one-dimensional coordin-ation polymers. The pipzH(2) (2+) cations (site symmetry ) and non-coordinated water mol-ecules lie between these polymers, forming N-H⋯O and O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds to the O atoms of the carboxylate groups.

Project description:The Cu atom in the title complex, {[Cu(C(6)H(2)N(2)O(4))(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) or {[Cu(L)(H(2)O)(3)]·H(2)O}(n) (L is pyrazine-2,3-dicarbox-yl-ate), displays octa-hedral coordination formed by the ligand L and three coordinated water mol-ecules. The ligand L is tridentate, with one N atom of the pyrazine ring and one O atom of one carboxyl-ate group forming a chelate ring, whereas one O atom from the second carboxyl-ate group is coordinated to another Cu atom. The ligand L links mol-ecules to form an infinite chain parallel to the [101] direction. The chains are further linked through O-H⋯O and O-H⋯N hydrogen bonds involving the water mol-ecules to build up a three-dimensional network.

Project description:The crystal structure of the title compound, [Ho(2)(C(12)H(6)O(4))(3)(H(2)O)(6)](n), contains binuclear centrosymmetric {Ho(2)O(2)(CO(2))(4)(H(2)O)(6)} cores inter-connected via the naphthalene-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate (NDC(2-)) bridging ligands into a two-dimensional neutral plane net, ∞(2)[Ho(2)(NDC)(3)(H(2)O)(6)], exhibiting a typical (4,4)-topology. Inter-actions between adjacent layers are assured by a series of C-H⋯π contacts and a number of strong and highly directional O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds involving the coordinated water mol-ecules and neighbouring coordinated carboxyl-ate groups. One NDC(2-) bridging ligand has its centroid located at a crystallographic centre of inversion.

Project description:The asymmetric unit of the title compound, [Ce(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(3)](n), contains two Ce(III) cations, three pyridine-3,5-dicarboxyl-ate (pyd) anions and three coordinated water mol-ecules. One Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven carboxyl-ate O atoms from six pyd anions and two water mol-ecules in a square-face-capped square-anti-prismatic geometry. Another Ce(III) cation is coordinated by seven O atoms from six pdy anions and one water mol-ecule in a bicapped trigonal-prismatic geometry. The pdy anions bridge the Ce(III) cations, forming the three-dimensional polymeric structure. The crystal structure contains extensive O-H⋯O, O-H⋯N and weak C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. π-π stacking is present in the crystal structure, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.509 (4) Å.

Project description:There are two independent La(III) cations in the polymeric title compound, {[La(2)(C(7)H(3)NO(4))(3)(H(2)O)(4)]·2H(2)O}(n). One is nine-coordinated in an LaN(2)O(7) tricapped trigonal-prismatic geometry formed by three pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules, while the other is ten-coordinated in an LaNO(9) bicapped square-anti-prismatic geometry formed by four pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions and two water mol-ecules. The two La(III) cations are separated by a non-bonding distance of 5.026 (3) Å. The pyridine-2,6-dicarboxyl-ate anions bridge the La(III) cations, forming a three-dimensional polymeric complex. The crystal structure contains extensive classical O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds and weak inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. The crystal structure is further consolidated by π-π stacking between pyridine rings, the shortest centroid-centroid distance between parallel pyridine rings being 3.700 (5) Å.

The asymmetric unit has four unique Tm(III) ions that are six-, seven-, eight- and nine-coordinate. The cations are inter-connected by bridging benzene-1,2-dicarboxyl-ate (BDC) anions to form an infinite two-dimensional framework, in which the BDC ligands adopt three different coordination modes. Adjacent sheets are further packed to form a three-dimensional supra-molecular framework through O-H⋯O hydrogen bonds.

The ptc ligands bridge the Tb(III) ions into a two-dimensional polymeric framework parallel to (100). An extensive O-H⋯O hydrogen-bonding network consolidates the crystal packing.
